shacco
I was wondering if anyone had the pleasure of hitting those and might wanna share their experiences. I remember reading someone hit them, but said they are nothing special. Also interested in the differences between AF-101, AF-102 and AF-151. Spoon
i have had all and game the 102 and rotate with the 151. the 151 is easier to hit and less demanding than the 102. 102 feels softer(like hitting a rubber ball) and is more workable but requires more SS to launch the ball. the 151 is pretty much a straight shooter. both are equally long but i prefer the 102 for feel and flight alone. then again you will have to select a shaft right for you and that could make or break the driver. EPONfreak
I'm looking for skippercary to chime in here, he is a former state junior and accomplished amateur who currently plays a 101 / fire express. He had a hit of my 151 yesterday and the expression was priceless. The 151 is looooong, and sets up perfectly orthodox as preferred by better players. In my opinion having played the 101 for the past 12 months, the 151 is longer, spins a fraction more, is certainly workable but not as workable as the 101/102. Interestingly is was expecting a higher trajectory with the 151 over the 101IP but it isn't as dramatic as I anticipated, 151 launches real strong. PS 151 with a fire express we decided would be insane.
EPONfreak
Oh, and the 151 is certainly more forgiving and feels awsome but not as nice as the 101/102 but that's on an Epon scale remember! ukok
Great driver, it has it all, length, workability and forgiveness. Match it up to the correct shaft and you will be a very happy man.
skippercarey
As EPONfreak said i hit his 151 yesterday and was super impresed sets up pure looks everybit as good as the 101 and i was expecting it to have more of a hollow feel compared to the meaty 101 but i really couldnt find much difference in feel. Even though we were hitting crappy range balls i could tell this is more a point and shoot driver or should i say point and BOMB!! easy to hit and with a strong low spin shaft like the Quadra Prototype i could easily see this beating the 101 for distance. It is a very light head as standard so you might want to order a bit extra weight, which i think EPONfreak did with his. Really need to hit the 102 now and compare the
EPONfreak
Yes, I ordered a 198g head to suit my preferred 75g shafts. When the head arrived it was spot on 198g which is to be expected from Epon. I think the fire express is next on my list for this head, I hit Skippercary's 101 with fire express X-flex and thought the shaft was sensational and would be an excellent fit for the 151 for players that can handle it. shacco
Thanks for the feedback so far. Any more reviews?
+TourSpecGolfer
Yup love my 151! Everyone here is spot on about the 102 feeling more pure but I need the forgiveness. Another two you shouldn't over look is the Titleist VG3 it fits the same bill as the 151 and in my opinion has more area heel to toe with slightly better feel. Distance is about the same on the two. Fire express is an awesome combo in any driver!
EPONfreak
That's what I like visually about the 151, it's not overly long heel to toe. Longer certainly than 101 / 102 but sets up pure.
Bunker18
I concur with all the feeback here. but, what i enjoy most of my AF151 is the soft buttery feel at impact. That stand out compared to other drivers i've hit.

Spoon
if i cannot sell my stinger will just stuff it in the 151. have been using the 102 with great success. but i think i will need all the forgiveness i need post recovery golf. EPONfreak
Definately forgiving. I was testing the new B330 on LM last week end. At 122-126 mph I don't hit the middle everytime but the distance and dispersion of flush vs off centre contact was not that marked, 315 vs 290, very forgiving in a pure package. skippercarey
i dont know how those bridgstone LM come up with their numbers coz the pga tour average in 2008 was 112mph with JB holmes 125mph and Tiger around the same also a friend of mine tested at 130mph!! on the same machine and i would say at best he would be around 115 at those results youd want to be playing XX Flex
EPONfreak
Mate who knows, at the end of the day if it's on the fairway who cares. My brother came out at 100mph on the Bridgestone machine which is consistent with 3 other LMs for him. Pros swing at 80% so I'm guessing JB could ramp it up if he wanted. I was most interested in noting my best contact and accuracy was at 119 but pinned the ears back for amusement more than anything!
skippercarey
yeah thats true but i still doubt anyone could get near tigers 80% swing even with both feet in the air!
EPONfreak
Tiger doesn't have a 151, perhaps if he did he would have the confidence to swing harder lol :)
