December 7, 201014 yr Nic, Welcome to TSG! :) Check out the Forged Cavity Shootout reviews by Gocchin on the GolfToImpress blog. The 2010 non-tour model was a part of it. Part 1: http://www.golftoimpress.com/2010/08/forged-cavity-back-shootout-part-a1-design-and-aesthics/ Part 2: http://www.golftoimpress.com/2010/10/gti-forged-cavity-shootout-part-2-performance/ I'm not sure if anyone has seen the 2011 version in person yet. Make sure you demo the NS Pro 950 & KBS 90 shafts if you can so that you have an idea of what you can expect coming from the 850s.
December 7, 201014 yr Nick, Comparing the 701 and Yamaha is like comparing a shovel vs a ping pomg paddle. The size is much different. The non tour version is smallish mid size with offset and the tour is small head with slight offset. See Gocchin's tes notes Fat Man has linked. I would think the non tour would be a better move than the tour as I think the move to the Tour would be too drastic. You ma be able to handle the Tour, but it may be a big size shift from 701 to Tour.
December 7, 201014 yr Author many tks for your kindly reply off course i'm looking for the standard model and not for the tour one what i cannot see is the neck and the offset compared to my epon i try to find out the offset measure also at yamaha web site but i cannot find it ( probably because is in japanese) i would like to buy iron with less offset and streigher neck compared to my epon 701 but off course a tour model is not for me the strong offsett make me creazy @ adress i'm looking at inpress xv because look's really great and on review i found out they have a good workability but with enought distance and forgiveness many tks nik

December 9, 201014 yr The offset on the Yamahas in gocchins post looks pretty straight. Even though i can't compare them next to each other, my best guess is that the Yamaha has less offset than the AF701.
December 10, 201014 yr Author Many tks for your reply. What i try to' understand is how mutch offset have the Yamaha xv standard model. I tried to' find out the offset measure in mm for each iron but i did not find it. I,m looking for someone that know both the Yamaha xv and the epon 701 and can help me to understand the offset difference Many tks Nicola

December 15, 201014 yr hi someone can help me ? nicola I had a set of 701 and now a set of V Forged. I can only tell you that the V would not have more offset than the 701. How much less I cannot tell since I have sold my 701 last year to do a side by side comparison. If you a relative good ball striker with irons, you just cannot go wrong with the V Forged.

I have the 701 and now the VG3 and the AF 502, ok i would say the XV will be similar to the VG3 and 502. which is not much of a difference. HOwever, due to the fact that it is smaller and thinner than 701. you will notice or you will assume that the offset is greater. i am the same handicap as you and i used to own the 701 and the reason to my move is exactly the same as you. I also tried some clubs which has very little offset and i was struggling with it. Trust me you will like the XV forged. I bought the VG3 cause i could not wait, otherwise i would go for the Yamahas anytime. Hope that helps. And R, sorry i replied on your reply. :) And T correct me if i am wrong. Let's put it in another way B; I have yet to meet anyone that dislike the V Forged (if he is a half decent ball striker.)

I still need to get use to the smaller heads. the short irons has dialed in. the long irons took a little longer than i expected.
