Henry
Received my Tourstage 2011 X-Drive 705 Driver 455 a few weeks ago with an upgraded shaft of Diamana 'ahina 60 in S flex, 8.5 degrees. Was able to get out for the first time this afternoon and hit about 25 balls. Weather was cold, only about 40 degrees. For comparison purposes, I have been using the Callaway Legacy Driver with Quattrotech Md-6S shaft. I am always impressed with Tourstage as the quality is superb all the way down to the beautiful headcover that comes with the club. Head size..Perfect pear shape. Does not look like 455cc. Looks much smaller and closer to my original X-405 Driver I had 5 or 6 years ago. Always impressed with the classic black color of the head. Very pleasing to the eye. Sound..It is more muted than Legacy. Does not sound as "hollow" as the Legacy. Impact..It feels more "meaty" at impact. Almost feels like hitting a persimmon driver. I like the feel very much. Trajectory..Definitely lower launch and more piercing compared to the Quattrotech shaft. I am always a high ball hitter and have been seeking a lower trajectory shaft. The high kickpoint of the Diamana keeps the ball lower for me. Distance..Hard to tell with the cold weather but the ball did seem to "role" after hitting the ground compared to not much role with my Legacy. Ease of use.. Probably slightly more difficult than Legacy but not by much. This could be in my head as I know this Driver is for the "athlete." However, I always felt Callaway is an easier driver to hit. Overall..Always nice to start out the season with a new driver. First impressions are good. I am not a long hitter so I am always looking for that extra 5 to 10 yards and this driver with this shaft may do it for me. Will follow up with my review when the weather gets warmer. +TourSpecGolfer
Thanks Henry, The legacy series is one of the most forgiving drivers in Japan, It says a lot if you were able to hit the TS455 with close or similar results. TourStage does very well at hiding the larger size of their drivers yet they also do great at making their smaller headed drivers not appear so tiny. Another thing is when it gets warmer the impact will feel better as the balls cover will soften up. appreciate your feedback, please keep us posted. I'm really liking the 415 I have right now.
