Mjr. D
I thought this would be a fun little topic to post. I've been visiting this site for around 6 yrs now and this is the equipment which stands out in my mind, as having the biggest cult following or having the most hype surrounding it at the time. Driver - Epon Technity 460. I remember first coming on this site and that's all I read about, the pure, incredible feel of this driver was unmatched, supposedly. I bought one and I have to agree. Never hit a driver, to this day, that felt this good. 3-Wood - Again, Epon Af 201 - Similar hype surrounding it as the Technity. Bought it, and although, for me, not quite as impressive, still impressive. Irons - This is a tough one. Has to be either the Epon 302's and AF tours, Gold's Factory cavity backs or a couple models of Tourstage.... can't remember exactly which ones. I bought the 302's and love them, although I wish I hit the struck the ball pure, more often to experience it, more often. Wedges - Epon X - Again, cult following surrounding the supposedly incredible feel. Yururi Tour Seida and raw gekku or Tourstage X wedge. Putter - Easy - Anything Gold's Factory. Shaft - The old Axiv, Roddio stand out the most for me. For irons, Nippon 1050's. Bag - Meh.... Paradisio and Dance with Dragon. Ball - No idea.... maybe the Titleist Gran Z? I'd love to hear your guys thoughts. Nice little trip down obsessive Jspec equipment lane.

Spoon
driver: defintely the epon 460! woods: gfield all the way especially the 4 wood. must have had 3 at different times. buy sell, buy sell and sold. hybrids: gfield again had 2,3,4,5 they were very good, probably the best hybrids ive ever owned regret letting those go. irons: tough one, too many although the epons were pretty hot wedges: too many to remember as well, the chikaras had a ffwing as well so did the older gauge designs. putter: i agree with you on the golds! still dont own one yet. shaft: defintely the axiv V and roddios in 07/08. the roddios were the first thing i ordered in TSG. a lot has changed since then, now theres just too much good gear around for all of us. stalemate
TourStage MR23. Wasn't that the set that sparked interest in Japan only clubs?

+TourSpecGolfer
Fun post indeed. For me going back about 9 years since we started TSG. The things that have scarred my mind are: Irons: TourStage MR-23CB U.S Spec & Tiger Woods Miura Irons & Epon Technity Pro I Driver: Epon 460ZR and now the Ryoma FW: PRGR EGG & Royal Collection Type BBD Type H Wedges: TourStage MR-23 Maru Spec Wedges, TS Izawa Wedges, Fourteen Original Prototypes. Putters: Gauge Design (JAPAN) **RIP** & G-Field Premium Zone **RIP**
landshark
things that strike me as the 'hot' items when i joined in were golds factory putters and to a little extent the irons, but also the G-field nc-1 irons right after the gauge design irons. by the way, how do those nc1's rate anymore to the current faves? gocchin
If biggest cult following equals biggest sales and most demand and buzz then based on our customers responses in the last 5 years (I don't go as far back as Chris (^_^)) DR: Technity 460ZR then EMB then Ryoma D-1 and the Ryoma is easily the new king, moving at a pace we have never seen before for any driver FW: Egg Spoon - nobody else close Irons: TM R7 Forged... at that time EVERYONE wanted a set Wedges: Interestingly so many good wedges that one specific model never really dominated in the last few years Putters: G-Field Premium Zone - remember when G-Field/Gauge went under and many used PZ's popped up at twice the cost of new? Shaft: The original Axiv and Axiv V... now Crazy Shaft

Mjr. D
Wow, well done. Didn't know the Ryoma had even close to the level of mania surrounding it as the Technity.
gbs
My Epons first started out from here. I was a reborn begginer when i know this site. all the JDM equipment brought my game to a different level. I cannot remember what i owned since then but my ZR460 and AF701 is the most memorable. NOt forgetting my EMB which can be heard all over the golf course. LOL ohh i miss those days. Edited May 3, 2011 by gbs
Blader-X
Gauge Design was all the rage and soon to become a battle point, MR23 and of course the G-Field Zone Putters. In addition I remember old posters who don't seem to be lurking around much or have moved on to other interests. Guys like Plus1 and Shoe.
