gocchin
Sounds pretty accurate for the head. You can only expect a 380cc head to be so forgiving on off center hits. The 787 is designed to be ... straight. (^_^)
supo
well finished the hit out , long one tonight . hit plenty of balls with this new driver, love the shape of the head, looks really good at address, easy to hit dispersion is pretty tight over all, distance got up there by the end of the night , not as long as the kahooooooooooooooonas but not terribly far behind either. aesthetically i dont like it it looks cheap, really low compared to the big boys, but then agn its a differnt price point to them as well. i think its in the TM callaway mould, cheap but delivers an adequate shot i wasnt under any really mind bending illusion this was going to usurp anything i have now , i was just hoping this could pop i n a spot somewhere that i dont have at the moment , and after tonight i m thinking most DEFINATLY it isi hit about 6 shots off tge mats at thr range with no problems, its like a big 3 wood small driver. its accurate and looks like it is. mines 10* and with this shaft it plays a little lower not sure of face angle but it looks pretty square, and must be bec all night i had lovely little draws going on. i will use the head on short tight tracks, like pete dye courses. or on my local at home where huge smoking raking bombs arnt needed. i think the design is better than the old model , but the older version is better made. a littel dissapointing in the quality , the feel is NOTHING anywhere near the epons, or the p-tune even. its a good head, its got a spot but i wont be gaming this every week thats for sure. the shaft however..................................... now thats got some balls. i love this shaft, its not the electric feeling of the stinger , nor the quadra or esp the crazies. but its gunbarell staright and flight is mid. low mid . can go both ways with ease. but not a lot, very very very good shaft.mines the X and ull need every bit of it, its nowhere near as tight as the stinger or the quadra, its much easier to hit, and just a beautiful feeling. i have a feeling this shaft will end up in another head pretty quickly .and i think i know which one.....................epon 102 springs to mind! This combo isnt the best ive hit but i think with slight mods itll be good. the shaft will end up elsewhere bec its bloody good! the stinger wlil go in the yonex next week, i think the extra zing of this will add a lot . the shaft might be a bit loose for the big fellas out there even the X, i found it looser ill hit proper balls on sun with it and make a better judgement then, but i think its equivalent of a crazy 7.2 or a quadra 75 xs oh its a brilliant looking shaft as well, white iomic x evolution on it , purrrfect, Edited May 11, 2011 by supo67
Eca
Wow, very nice and honest review stew. I've always had the impression however that the 787 Bangvoo is plenty stiff compared to the premium version.
EPONfreak
Stew, did you find the smaller head easier to work? I'm considering a compact head and short shaft around 44" as a control driver, would the Yonex 380 be any good for this?

I'm considering a compact head and short shaft around 44" as a control driver, would the Yonex 380 be any good for this? most definatly, the best combo i have to work. id dguess this driver is about 15+ yards behind my others, but its really good to hit short. controlled shaped drives. the feel of the face isnt good, its just spongey but the fact i can wok it and place a drive further than a 3 wood isa great thing. now if epon, jbeam, yada yada made one of these lok out. its 380 but the face takes most of that , the face is stil big, which is fantastic. u dount lok down going gulp i gotta hit a driver wit h ute head. kinda thing its a ver y ver ygood design, just s**ttty materials to look at, no idea of twhat quality went into this but it doesnt feel like a top end driver. BUT PRICE IS EVERYTHING....... and its not in the epon range , so bearing that in mind......... yes its well worth it.

Spoon
i am going to play mine at 45.5! dont want to waste my new quadra proto just in case the head doesnt work. i got this originally to play on tight courses and was hoping to add more length compared to my 102. apparently not. build not a factor for me considering the price point. supo
took this out to the game today, didnt game it but played it a plenty on grass range with good balls. also took a cpl of others my ryoma and a new crazy to see how they all stacked up. it was much better than at the range cpl of nights ago with those rocks y get u hit. its length is fine without being a monster, and diespersion was really good. ill gave this next weekend for sure but against the ryoma and cray is still a ways behind. it felt much better, solid was the call from my partners. the shaftt is terrific. i like it a lot, it handled the juice with ease without being too hard or too soft. i can see this as a really solid top end shaft, great feel, very straight , neither high nor low. get one fellas, well worth it. still not sure if this shaft will stay in this head, but ill game it before i make that call. supo
played this today in rain and no wind on a decent enough long course with the crazy 460. used the yonex on the shorter trickier holes with resounding success. hit a few cuts, a draw or two, and a cpl dead straight darn the pipes. def not as long as the crazy prob by an average of ABOUT 15 yards but it was solid, doenst feel the greatest but perfectly ok . i played the tourstage x10 milds and they are pretty special pills. mines at 10* prob could use the 9* i think , but it didnt really balloon. and got some good high drives away , all carry still thinking about this but after today im pretty happy with results . no, very happy. im keeping it and its got a special place for tricky driving coures. the bang voo set up is good , but i think its prob better suited to be palyed slightly shorter than stock 45 inch ithink i need it at 44.5 for bit more control . upgrading my thought on this substantially. not a long driver but very very good and accurate . vey good. Spoon
Antz has received his 380 w FEX shaft. Hey Anton do share your experiences with us in the range!
supo
i swapped out the shaft and put a qudra fire express in it and had a good whack yesterday with it 10* its a LOT better with this shaft the bangvoo feels kinda mute ,the FEX most certainly does NOT. the FEX keeps the ball down a bit more aswell. and it gives ita kilelr kick, improves this club enormously. still got the anti left thing going on, but i was very very pleasantly surprised. made it to play d2 at 45 inch with a 75xs shaft, can easily come down a flex in this aswell. to get it turinig over a bit more. distance improvment was noticeable as well. was tempted to cut it to 44.5 but thought ican just choked own on it without a problem. would have played it ysterday, but the jbeam425 tour was just soaring. going to keep this for a raing day. the bangvoo in the yamaha tour is MUCH better than the fex and the fex is MUCH better in the yonex than the bangvoo differnt strokes for differnt folks. supo
mate WORST day out in my life the course was spectacular. they cut the rough form a foot to 6 + inchs on the firways around the greens tho it was just horrendous. the ball literally sank thank god i ahd the bunker meijin! saved me about 6 times. and the fairwasy were no more than 15 yrads wide in parts. we palyed stroke and nasau so everything in the cup. 3h15m for 9 holes. they put us behind a group of 16. 900yr old morons who thought it would be a good day out to play shishido hills the JPGA open course a week after the tourny. where every yr -6 wins the damn thing and no more than 8 guys go sub par! absolutley NO IDEA what so ever. every hole was 4 groups one on green one on fairway 2 on tee box. lost it at half time , then they said u have to wait 1.5 hours at lunch and start back nine at 3.40pm , and . oooooooh ooooooooh maybe u wont make full 18! i LOST it. we went star8 ot the tee box nad played the back nine in a brisk 2.45. talk about no flow, no concentration, just horribe day out. but i stripped my mate out, and took the day and the coin. gooooooooooood coin. 3 hole blow up throught out the day tripple ,tripple ,double, the rest was super solid. club choice super important, to kthe jbeam 425 tour crazy 80 7.7 as driver i gave this 10/10 for performacne. the yamaha tour 08s with the ORA prototype shaft agn 10/10 wedges i was better off throwing the bloody ball, hit them like a mong. the matsumoto putter. hit that so-so. balls ,i played the tourstage x-01 mild forn tn ine then switched to the bridgestone super newing premium brills back nine yup its official its the super newings for me. much nicer to hit spin NOT an issue what so ever. the stimp was running abt 10 ish plenty fast enough for us chopchops.....! stil lgonna do this every yr. the course is just sensational. if anyone wants a challenge pop over this time next yr and well organise a weeekend up there. its a top spot.! goes to hosw how good th pros are we played form th STONES. 7392 yards. yee gads some of the par 4s were just gulp. one is 508 yards. u juts have to laugh. Spoon
thats sounds like the perfect trip marred by the huge flight in front of you. they should have placed you guys in front of them. sounds like a lot of fun and stress at the same time. least you broke 90 in that beast of a score. i wouldnt dare play the tips, even the blues might be plenty for me this time of the year.
