luting_chen
Hi folks, I'm in the process of deciding which shaft to go into my new driver head. I bought a 2011 Yamaha 9 degree Tour Model with ahina 60x, however it's too low of a launch for me. I'm currently playing Fubuki Alpha 60x with 2010 Yamaha Tour Model 10 degree head. I really like this setup and enjoyed the ball flight (medium launch) and seems to give me a really nice carry and run. However I'm just looking to try something new which will give me similar trajectory while adding a bit of weight (70g) with less dispersion. I play Matrix F7M2-x on 3 Wood and HM2-x on my hybrid. So I actually enjoy a bit heavier shaft to slow down my tempo. Has anyone tried both shaft? Any input will be greatly appreciated. What's the pro and cons and feedback of each? Playing characteristics etc. I know both are excellent shafts with similar price tags. But would love to hear some inputs on how one may be a better shaft than the other. Also previously saw a crazy shaft broken into pieces due to its high glass content, does this happen often? My swing is quite smooth at around 115mph (however will go up as I'm on a weight training program looking to gain both carry and flexibility). Would like to swing as freely as I can without worrying about the left side. As for TPHD, I guess I'm looking for TP6HD (x-stiff) which is 70g shaft, and as Crazy probably something like CB-80II Nero (x-stiff, 8.2) at similar weight. Or is TP7HD will be a better fit? Selecting TP6HD so it's slightly lighter than my 3 wood (F7M2 is at 80g uncut). Thank you very much in advance :) Kev Edited May 24, 2011 by luting_chen
ant
you can get 70x alpha ;) I'm currently playing Fubuki Alpha 60x with 2010 Yamaha Tour Model 10 degree head. supo
ive hit 5 differnt crazys and that tp7hd thing i also have the yamaha 2011 tour head with a quadra fire express 75 xs in it that delivers a very low ball flight. the crazy ive it are the tj 46 black 80 black 80 ls 2 black 50 black 50 sigma and they are all pretty low if uwant a higher flight that fubuki is higher. roddio s7x will be another one u might like.agn i ve got this in a yamaha 10* ,sensational feeling. or the diamana stinger 70x is another one in that class. thats higher and dead straight
luting_chen
Thanks a lot for the replies :) Really appreciated. I guess if I want to go for the Matrix or Crazy, I'll have to change the 9 degree head o 10 degree to give me a bit higher launch. Supo67, what's your view on TPHD vs Crazy? If given same flex, spec and weight, which one has tighter dispersion and longer carry?
supo
DEPENDS ON WHAT CRAZY i hated that tp7hd ithought it was a total imposter for $1000 BUT the f7m2 tho used for under 250 now ,thats a shaft! if u want a long tight launch light weight one the tj range is it. the crazy ls 2 is for slight draws. the crayz 50 is to keep the pill out of the trees on the left ,and i think the best feeling of all of them.. {(s**t i just had a thought what im going to reshaft that yamaha tour with!!!!!!)} errrrrrr..,sorry i digress.........., the crazy 80 is another tighter keep the left out i thinkt the diff in 50 to 80 is the 50 is a bit softer and maybe longer, def better feeling its more elastic the 80 is really glassy and taught. thats what ive found. the tp7hd just didnt feeel good at for ME and i had it in my yamaha where a railway sleeper would feel good, but it was just harsh. th DG of the carbon world IMO.. and for 1000 seriosuly????????????????????? u might wantt oconsider the bangvoo as wel, ive been hitting that a lot recently and LOVING it. dead straight no bias i can detect. and a bit cheaper, the crazy tho............... winner winner chicken dinner. my persoanl fav is the 50 sigma heavy and thumping. the noir is a draw shaft that can handle everything as welll. weight go for sigma lightness the tj antil left the 80 pure feel any 50 range staughtness the 80 ls id go the quadra proto as well before the tp the quadra proto is as good as any. ant
i think TP-7 was designed with a slightly different golfer in mind. AK used to play it and he was very aggressive with a driver and got swing speed to match as well. i didnt try it and frankly wont even get it on my list of shafts to consider, especially at that kinda price. Quadra proto 7x!!! You want to keep it simple, get that carry you desire, tight dispersion and lots a roll this is it. Feel is fantastic. You cant get it wrong with this one. With the crazies you have to get one that's right For you and I know guys that have tried at least 5 before the holy Grail was found. Just something to consider
luting_chen
Sounds like Crazy is what you'll suggest :) and even better than Bangvoo? Can you discribe Bangvoo a bit for me? In terms of how it play against 50 or 80. Is the dispersion between 50 and 80 noticeable? I think you've bought me into consider 50 Nero now... lol... I guess now it's left with 2 candidates... 1) 50 Nero 2) 80 Nero or probably Bangvoo if it's better :) Sounds like TPHD is out :) Edited May 26, 2011 by luting_chen
Mjr. D
Try a Graphite Desging P9003X. I was on the phone to some guys in Texas yesterday...... pro guys and long drive guys who do extensive testing on every shaft pretty much out there and they said, at the end of the day, the best shaft they've ever tested, still, to this day is the Graphite Design P9003X. I had one...... best I ever used. The Crazy Black 50 is right there, but close to double the price.
Mjr. D
I also have a Quadra Proto X right now. Great feel, I don't think it's a particularly outstanding shaft, though. Spins a lot, dispersion is just ok. I've used a lot of better shafts.
supo
forgot about that one and for the price its unmatchable. but u gotta be swinging really hard strong fast to get the most out of it. been thinking how good this would be in a 3 wood.
