bogeydog
As many know, I have been trying to kick my 2009 Yamaha Inpres X 4.6V rpm driver out of the bag for 3 years. It keep boomerang'n back to the bag. it just has a pure silky feel and the ball explodes off the face. It has been tempermental at time however I have found the head is innocent and teh shaft has been to blame. The shafts that I have had are a s follows: 1) Stock Rombax 6Y09 stiff - hated it. 2) Matrix XCON5 Firm - Loved it. Sometimes came left too much but really long and feel was superb. 3) Crazy TJ46 SR flex - Wanted to like it, but couldn't turn it over. Pushed and faded it too much. 4) Bassara Griffin JPGA stiff - Loved it, still love it. Worked well for me and jumped in and out of the head a few times. Easy to handle and work. 5) Quadra Fire Express SR - Held off as long as I could. Silky smooth, really nice control. No reason not to like. 6) Quadra Fire Express Proto SR - Had to try it. If the FE was good, wanted to see if they improved it. Love it. Same silky kick'n feel as non proto, but crazy long. initial reaction is 20 yards longer. Why I don't know. By damn it works so well. In my case a similar trajectory as non proto, but a bit tighter. Still easy to handle. i am not sure what can beat the setup for raw distance and feel. Here is a pic of the impact tape from the last 8 shots I took. No I didn't compare this setup to any other drivers. I have another Yamaha Tour head I may try that with another popular shaft, but someone needs to by my OnOff Forged irons first!
Eca
Nice B, beats ryoma/cb46?
Spoon
Yup the proto is a very good shaft, IMHO the best shaft I have tried. I have no desire to experiment at thisnpoint. Definitely tighter than The FEX. Did you Feel more kick with this compared to the non proto ?
bogeydog
I hesitate to say if it beats another driver. To me there hasn't been anything close to its feel except the Epon 460 Technity. That one with the Roddio was pretty sweet. Length has ben always top notch. I find it relatively forgiving. I never tried a different year of the Yamaha driver so I don't know if others compare. The Ryoma is everything you hear it is. This is a diffetent beast. I don't know if the proto had more kick than the non proto. Tomorrow I will know more. supo
i reckon the quadra proto to being little tighter. and not as damaging to slices as the FEX. if u slice it it will stil go far right ,but, not as bad as the FEX. i had a good range session alst night and used my epon102 with the proto for the first time in 3 months. i remember now why i loved this so much. i think of all the myriad of shafts i own if i was to only have this one i wouldnt miss any others. well . sort of ...........................,

bogeydog
Quadra proto iron shafts? I wish that they made a softer flex in the iron shafts.
Spoon
Quadra proto iron shafts? I wish that they made a softer flex in the iron shafts. they have a 100gram iron shaft but they arent the protos. im pretty sure they have some in a softer flex. bogeydog
Good day on the course today. Hit 100% of the fairways. Not always longest in the group which I wouldn't expect to be, but was the most accurate. I wish I could say the same for the irons.

I wish I could putt as good as I drove the ball.
