Crazy faiway shafts

Hi there, now that i hav sorted my driver & loving it ( ryoma vspec + crazy black 46 7.2 ), need to work on my fairway. Currently gaming a titleist in a fubuki shaft. Feels like the fubuki spins a lot & balloons up, losing me distance ( of course could be the swing !! ). Any views on crazy fw shafts ? Fw80 or sigma 50 ? Thks peeps

I have hit the Fw80 & md7 & they are great shafts. Didn't quite unseat my ilima 80s.

Are you using the fubuki fwy aftermarket shaft?

Not the stock shaft that came with the titleist. Just feels too much spin on it

Sorry Chanaa, a little confused with your reply. Basically if you are using a driver shaft then has it been tipped appropriately?

I have the FW80 on my Egg Spoon. Playing characteristics quite the same as the LY01, except that I feel the FW80 s a little more 'one piece' than the LY01, which has more 'kick'. It could be that the head of the Egg is a little light? In any case, no complaints there since you can really have a go with it and not worry. But if you're concerned about hitting it high, my experience has been the Egg is hitting higher than my other fairway woods, could be the shaft, could be the head, dunno. Again no complaints since it still goes far and straight. ;)

HOw timely, been struggling with my fw shafts. I had bad experience with my first crazy shaft I think it was the f80x on my friend spoon I was so traumatized by that one. Most definitely the wrong model for me.

Anyway vie tried most fairway woe shafts with the exception of the right crazy. I'm sure there is one up my alley.

For now I'm just so in love w the quadra FEX in my driver it makes sense to get them in my woods as well.

Sorry mate, dont know if it has been tipped correctly. Excuse my ignorance, whats the impct / significance of it. Thks

Driver shaft when installed in a fwy wood generally require some tipping otherwise tip will be too soft resulting in higher flight and high spin. Most will require a 1/2" tipping at the least.

I just checked specs, if your a stiff user & at your hcp, a 66g fwy shaft maybe too light..

Thks. Hence the dilemma. Seems like a common problem..... Re Spoon

Try demoing high 70s low 80s shaft. I think the fw80 is in the mid70s & Stew who has a power swing loves it.

the fubukis are a draw biased shaft the launch mid ish ive found

they go ok, but feel ike.......... well , not good.

they are the upgrade shaft in the egg spoons

they play well but feel dreadfull.

63 is prob too light u want at leat a 70 weight in the 3 wood id think

cut a quadra fex 75 s and put that in anything its

winner winner chicken dinner.

im beginning to think its better in the fairwasy than in a driver!

I play 7og driver shafts, 120gram irons, 130gram wedges, but I can no way hit 80 and 7o gram fw shafts.

Weird. I can do mid high 6os at most. My fw shaft actually cpms less than my driver shaft. Tried 80x

In theory itnshould have worked, failure, 7os no go. 65s perfectomundo and just not any 65s , has to

Be mid launch mid spin. That's why I have been struggling with the ozik from the get go

i'm just the opposite and like how fubuki feels and i dont think its draw biased at all, in fact any shaft that is biased to either side and can be shown to do so on a machine would not comply with R&A and USGA equipment rules. yeah i know its stupid especially since closed or open faces are norm and compliant but those are the rules what you gonna do. i havent hit quadras or crazys or anything from that price range so maybe fubuki doesnt feel good compared to those but otherwise it feels pretty good to me.

i found it to be really steel like.

i played it in the superfast and the eggs nad set of roma-ro irons

and had to change it over.

just felt like hitting a steel rod to me.

distance was terrific and its dispersion was tight

but the fubuki alpha 70s kept going left for me every shot i hit

it was most inconvenient

i love the look of it , all diamana shafts just look bloody sensational.

it reminded me of that v2 orangey yellow thing

hideous feel oh gawd...,

, but whooly smokeshas there ever been a better shaft?

judging by the way its still palyed by the big boys on tour prob not.

thats funny, i had steel previously so that might explain my preferences. neither driver or fw shaft feels boardy to me tho and definitely not left for me, i hate everything thats trying to go left on its own. havent tried their irons shafts. sorry for going a wee bit offtopic here but since you have tried so many shafts whats your take on Stinger and TPHD ? i think you mentioned elsewhere that you didnt like TPHD feel and really like the Stinger and both utilize boron in their construction so in my mind that would make them feel pretty boardy but you like the Stinger alot. these two are the ones i'm interested to get and try at some point if i see anybody selling quality pulls at reasonable prices.

I havent used the sigma but the weight 'for me' seem ideal as a fw shaft. Sounds like for a controlled 3w performance whilst the fw80 which i have tried gives you that extra Kick. Email or PM Tario your details coz he fits Crazy shafts very well.

hi

the sigma is heavy and powerful.

i think anyone big and fast would love this shaft

i mean really love it

its pretty expensive but i would gladly swap out my shafts out and put these in all my fairways.

i hit them in the range at the crazy factory before i even knew anything about them, and i prefred these to the 80 blacks FW bec they are heavier.

the black is the best out and out FW ive ever hit. till now.

and a cut FEX is the best fw. to play. the diff between the fw variety and a cut driver is marked.

i prefer cut driver. but its SO SO hard to get yourself to cut a driver shaft at that price range bec. what if it dont work??

luckily i do mange to do thsi a lot and find out.

that sigma tho , felt amazingly good in th nets

the driver shaft i have is also fantabuous

if u like heavy toinking shafts then the sigma is one ot seriuosly consider.

so is the p9003x

that thing doesnt get ANYWHERE near the reco it shud do.

here a littel list of what I consider to be the best FWS shafts

crazy black 80 FW light and just the gold standrard of actualy FW shafts for moi these gt sensationall in all flex.

quadra fex FW-- right up the kyber of the crazy but a slightyl more soft elastic feel to it. prob longer. impossible to passup if on offer.

sigma fw see above..,

roddio s7 tour proto.. not really for general consumption. but i can assure u these are never going to egt swapped out, im selling my RC 304o with te crazy black 80 to keep these instead, absolute hens teeth and well, they were shingoes they go ok. HA!

now cut driver shafts

quadra FEX-- cant beat it.

Graphite deign md- was the gold standard a cpl of yrs back, a lot of fwsfrom 3 yrs a go have these i nthem for a ver ygood reason, mid flight tight but definatly workable ,and beautiful feeling

diamana blue--- for the price they are .iits impossoble not to like these.

if budget is an issue these WIN.

diama kaili-- in a 3 wood it plays a lot bette than in a driver. dont ask me why it just does, its low and piercing but just a tad o whip to it

was incredible surprised by how good it was.

graphite design PT--- had these in my RC 304p i swapped out to the crazyies to bring the flight down.

if u like a mid flight with plenty of oomph, then this cant be ignored, im almost regrettign swapping them out. if it werent for the roddios id put them back in for sure.

very very nice easy to hit fw AND FEEL TERRIFICO.

ozik f6m2-- low realy thin, fells very responsive to mvment, def too light for me , but i thnk its a ripper , ive been considering cutting my f7m2 but i think i can put this in a driver.

ozikx-con 6 ive got this in a 5 wood nd for moving the ball about this is utterly sensational.

funnily tho i put it in a 3 wood and it was horrible.

i think it need to be cut and tipped to make it sing ,and like dame joan sutherland sing it does.

thats a few of my favs

if ur in doubt then any of these will be really really good.

one caveat...... i picked up an original diamana stinger form 2004 in x flex tipped and butted to play i n a 5 wood ,was a J pros a few yrs ago.

THIS IS THE BEST SHAFT THERE IS.

that belongs in my yamaha v14 form 2010, and no its NEVER for sale.

hope that helps a cpl of people out sorry for not a lot of detai lbut im doing this on the go at work.

Thanks peeps. Will give sigma a stab. Can someone help educate me here ? In the crazy website, sigmaf fw 50 shows shaft wgt of 82g. With 44" its 73 g. Is 82g raw shaft ? My standard is 43"' hence lighter shaft in the end ?

Thks
