bogeydog
Is this still the preferred combo for distance without wind? As most know I have the 2009 10* Yamaha Inpres 4.6V RPM with Quadra Proto FE 65SR shaft. I have been playing this head on and off since release. A few friends of mine have similar combos in different flexes. One of the better players has said that teeing the ball high has resulted in some killer drives. Over the last two rounds I have teed it up high. 1/2 the ball above the top edge. Well I have been killing it with this setup. The trajectory is noticeably higher, however the ball just soars and carries forever. I also notice that control is better. I don't know why I have not found this out before, but it works so well. Thoughts?
Spoon
depends on your launch angle, if yours is lower then teeing up will help , at least that is what i gathered from experimenting. i too find that teeing it up higher although not( half the ball above the crown) maybe slighly 1/4 above the crown yields the best drives for me. supo
yeai also tee the ball up really high , when i tee it really low i hit stinging slices or fades. the high tee ball just roars to its apex really quickly then soars onwards, thats whait ilike to do when i really want lay into one . amazingly straight as well. (well most times )
idrive
I'm Teeing slightly higher than you are. I have more control with the higher Tee. I have found max distance to be located in the upper toe section of the sweet spot.
jamnguy1
The only problem with teeing it high is the greater potential to pop up the ball and get a skymark on your crown. I think everyone should experiment with different tee heights. On windy days, I'll tee it lower for sure.
