i use either pefect pro cord or iomic x-evolution on everything.

the other week i decided to put a set of rubber PP on my ora x protos, i felt these were just a bit thicker than i normally use. and i was extremely dissapointed with them when i played, couldnt get my hands over the ball well, felt really heavy and dull., horribly dull the differnce in feel between these and the exact same clubs with the iomics on them is quite remarkable to me.

luckily for me i had a cpl too many chardys a few nights ago and decided to cut these PP rubbers off nad put the tried trusted iomic x evos on them.

the differnce was UNBELIEVABLE.

maybe its just im so used to the feel of these. not sure, but the clubs trasnformed into thingsof beauty once more

it got me thinking why i put certian grips on certian clubs nad not others it would apepar ilike a bit of softness in my grips withpout being super absorbant, but in woods i like suoer hard instant response grips.

on my fav 5 wood the yamaha-stinger combo i have a perfect pro cord, it is without doubt the most rigid, stiff lightning feeling club in my possesion.

itis positively the only club i will never change in anyway.

initially it had the golf pride tour velvet grip on it it was nothing special at all. the grip TO ME makes such a vast difference and this experiment proved it beyond doubt

it appears ii like the cord grips on drivers and fairways............. and i like the x evos on irons ,

even those gripmater leather mumblers ihave dont feel as good.

is it just me or are other guys that piccy with what thier hands go on?

Hey, your only real connection to the club is your grip, so if that's not feeling right, nothing will feel right.

I'm also a big (recent) fan of the Iomics. Perfect blend of soft and hard and more water resistant than most grips out there. Also like the fact that I can play with all sorts of obnoxious colors like the chartreuse greens I have on my Epon 502's;)

I recently put some Royal MCT grips on my whole set and they've been impressive. They're similar to a GP Dual Durometer and have a nice semi-tacky feel. For $3.50 a piece they were worth trying and I like them so far. I was using Lamkin Perma-wraps which had a softer feel but they barely lasted a couple of months. Hopefully these will last longer.

They make them in a bunch of different colors and I have 3 colors that match my shafts. It sounds silly, but they do look good! Problem is they're hard to find and I've heard they're more popular in the Asian market. Here in the U.S. Golfworks and Ebay are the only places I've seen them.

Grips are a splurge for me. I buy them by the bunch, if at all and try to keep them clean. Often I end up giving away the ones I don't like or lose interest in but that sometimes takes a couple of years as I tend to stock them until the need arises. The thing about new grips is that a new set can make old clubs feel new again.

Every man needs to find his foolishness to restore humility.

Have been a big fan of the GripMaster leather for sometime now. I have tried many GP and Lamkin and always ended up back with GripMaster. However, I have never really tried any Iomic or Nowon. How durable are they? The leather grips just last, on a set of Muras with almost daily play for 3 years they are still in amazing shape, so am hesitant to start playing something else if it won't last through a couple of seasons, at least...

The Nowon's tend to wear out by the area I place my left hand thumb on the grip (I'm right handed). If you tend to grip tightly, durability could be an issue since they are on the softer side. If you have a spare club or 2, you could try them out before puling the trigger on a whole set. Let me know, I can send you a couple.
