gocchin
Hi guys, Yamaha did their product launch for 2012 today and I will be doing extensive coverage of all the new products on the blog: http://www.golftoimpress.com Just a quick heads up because I know many of you want the new 2012 V Forged Tour Model Irons. Endo forged S20C and this year a milled face! Only 1200 sets have been made and more than half are already accounted for and this is still more than 3 weeks before the official shipping date (Nov 19th). We are starting pre orders now so if you want a set please email me. Standard shaft is S200 but if you order now, Yamaha can custom build with KBS Tour or Modus3 as an upgrade. FatMan
These are going to sell like hotcakes! It would be best to pre-order if you want one. I'm sure bogeydog's 1st in line already. :)

Spoon
Looking more and more like my 302's.... :) :) as a matter of fact they do! i would love to see a pic of the milled face:)
gocchin
The milled face looks awesome... unlike other brands that use swirls, the Yamaha has X's. These limited editions are always so much trouble for us... in other words they are WAY too limited. We have to compete with so many shops to order. I spoke with Yamaha today and they said since yesterdays official product announcement the standard spec with S200 is pretty much sold out and they can't guarantee how many sets we will get. Our safest bet is actually ordering custom spec as most golf shops simply get the standard spec which is why it runs out here in Japan. Yamaha puts aside a batch just for custom orders. idrive
What shaft is everybody going to use?? I'm thinking Crazy CBI Evolution The body is ready for graphite if the dispersion is as good as steel. A little extra kick would be nice too. supo
i had a word to them a cpl of wekes ago as well, i begged, scrounged, blackmailed, cried yelled, i did everything to get a set of tours,, even a DEMO 7 IRON..... and a driver head early relaese bah humbug!!! not even close. i also mentioned that thier policy of DG s200 shafts in these is just plain LUNACY! there are so many better options available. IMO ur not buying the tour version heads to hit dgs200. looks like they are avaialble now . good stuff.. best of luck to all trying to get these irons and driver heads those that are after them they will NOT be on the shelf after the first hour of release. as per usual. interesting design the new models....................... im going to have to study them hard b4 i swoop this yr. that driver head is laready errrrking me , looks like a bloody diablo desgin all colours and swooshes on it .. need a much closer inspection.! gocchin
Well it is official, one day after the product announcement, and all sets of the S200 are accounted for. Only custom orders now are being taken from Yamaha's set aside heads for custom orders. So we can only take custom orders now.
jamnguy1
I love milled faces on irons. dgs200 are standard fare and of course there are better options but the s200 for me are so much better than s300 which is standard in the US
supo
hey is that right????? s300 stock huh? gawd. if only, i always have to pull dgs200 from verything here . i cant give these bloody things away here s300 although GD id still prob play those a bit more than s200
bogeydog
Yes I have an order placed. After using the Crazy CBI-02 shafts, I too will likely go graphite.
hardboiled
How much would a set cost with Nippon Modus3 shafts?
shacco
Not sure I'm feeling the whole new line up. From the first look I prefer previous iterations. But I might need more pics in order to judge correctly;)
Ara selai
Looking more and more like my 302's.... :) :) They definitely do. I like the looks of the 2011s better, based on this one picture. Have Yamaha released specs yet?
gocchin
I don't really see the resemblence with the AF-302. Besides the notches on each side of the cavity the actual cavity is not the same nor is the back face or the shape of the head. It's also satin while the AF-302 is mirror chrome. It has quite a bit more trailing edge relief too.
gocchin
Yamaha was generous this year... they sent me 14 demo drivers and 14 irons. And then told me I have till Tuesday to test them and return them!!!! I didn't really need every driver with every shaft option (BB6, Fubuki K, Attas T3, etc..) Ah but so be it, I cannot really complain. Anyway people wanted to see the face milling up close so here it is on the tour model which looks gorgeous. All the irons look amazing and can't wait to hit the range this afternoon!

gocchin
is yamaha similiar to epon in quality Made at the same factory and most consider it just as good and many consider Yamaha even more high tech design.
Vegaman
Good looking stuff. But i wonder why they have to go 'limited' every year? Is it a marketing ploy or is there some other reason they don't just produce these heads like they do ohter heads? I mean, steel billets are not in limited supply.. supo
i guess bec . they sell all of the tour eds. in .0000000000000000000000000000000000005 seconds of release ,at the asking price. long term i guess that wins, customers will buy the new model every yr . quality wise................ put it this way theres nothing ive tried that is better out there. ill say that most unreservadly. most def nothing better. theres a few pieces that are on the same page . in fact after hitting all things good, i prefer to hit yamaha than the others , most of the times. if im on a short tricky track ill revert to my blades , but on my 7000 + yard behemouths like i get here most weekeends. ill ONLY EVER TAKE out the yamahas. they just give me so much more a sense of security . i have to see the new ones in the flesh to get an idea of the new lines but il tell you the 2011s are a spec'd up version of the 06 model, which, the more iplay them i think might be their best ever model. absolutely nothing particularly fancy about those at all, my fav irons. and not really an out and out tour model compared to what else is available! the 2012s i will have to see, bec at first glance piccy wise, they look like they have gone the way of Toustage and put slashes and demons on them. pls god dont let it be so.!!!!! gocchin
I tested all the iron models today... the tour model must be one of the most satisfying feeling irons I have ever hit PLUS it was not that hard to hit and I am an average golfer. I have started posting on the blog... and you will soon find out the tour model iron blew me away. Oh well I guess you already found out since I said it here. bogeydog
Seems like this is the same discussion year after year starting in 2007 when I bought the 2008 model. So many have been resistant to jump on the Yamaha train. Maybe it is because they are such a diversified company producing everything from amplifiers to medical equipment. As Yamaha's biggest fan, do yourself a favor and get onboard!
