Ryoma Driver Observation

Now i find this driver to be pretty long across the face (heel is the distance robber), but I have noticed one thing.

Balls hit above the equator of the face and toward the toe seem to go farthest. Now some of this is physics related (toe of club travels faster than heel), but was wondering if there is a toe bias to distance with the Ryoma. Many times I have shrugged "Ahrg I toed it." Only to find the ball travelled as if I hit it on the screws.

Anyone else experience this?

The Epon EMB was the same way. Slightly high towards the toe.

Do you feel like this is the best driver for distance and forgiveness? I really want to believe and pull the trigger but it is a lot of cash for me.

It is a lot of pizzas!

It has been the best for me. I think Epon and Kamui are two other good options. I bought mine used so it was about the "US Tour Driver" cost. Still expensive. I like you can get it head only though the stock shaft was pretty good.

The Ryoma launches lower, carries well and rolls. I never got roll before. Remember you get true lofts so adjust accordingly. I have a 10.5*.

For me I am more consistently in the fairway.

No club is a miracle worker.

Get the right shaft fit for you.

If the Ryoma is too expensive, look for a used EPON cant go wrong with that either.

Definitely Stevo, the majority of my misses with all clubs is heel and as soon as i read this (Stew i think commented on this) I had to adjust. Middle hits to toe definitely goes longer.

i def get that toe shots seem to go longer than i expect. a lot longer actually.

i dont think over all its the longest driver ive hit, that goes to the kamui and jbeam

but in terms of getting it on the short grren stuff consistantly, then yes the ryoma is very tough to beat. very tough indeed.

i get low/mid launch , mix of run and carry and its a very easy club to hit.

ur not going to bend balls like uri geller does spoons but for the main this goes pretty darn straight.

all shafts ive hit this with have been good - very good.

Gd p9003x,, diamana stinger ...diamana proto-----crazy longest yard... crazy 50 sigma---crazy 80 ls noir.

all these have played admirably.

Although i have used many drivers but limited in the quality JDMdrivers. The Ryoma/Crazy is the best i ever had for distance and forgiveness.

I went looking for a new driver due to getting injured using a heavy config tour driver to get some consistency in my game. The main injury is in my lead wrist and a slight twinge on my left hip. I completely ignored the latter.

This is when i got this combo. At 1st i thought ummm about the same distance as my previous driver, which was long, but more forgiving and stable despite being a much lighter config. I thought for the spend is it really worth it? Then i notice my iron play is much shorter as i play with injuries. The left wrist started to settle with the lighter config so i thought i cant really sell this then as its suiting me. But lighter should also equate to a little extra distance hmm. Then i started bombing 1-2 a game but the irons still up to a club shorter than usual. I bumped into an old pal one day and I was just mentioning my experiences and he said more than likely, the left hip twinge (which i ignored) has unconsciously caused me stop firing/clearing that hip.

So i worked on it and bingo, the irons came back, the Ryoma/Crazy started to boom. I'm a 5'3 stocky and Gian11 here can tell you the consistent bombs he has witnessed. More importantly, they're a higher chance of being in play.

Stew if the Ryoma gets you on the fairway most consistently then it probably is the longest you have ever hit. (^_^)

Those ultra long drives in the woods and deep rough don't count. (^_^)

The Ryoma is simply very straight thanks to such a huge sweet spot. I have the same experience with shots towards the toe, they just stay very straight.

There are so many reviews on this forum for it, more than probably any other driver.

Yea.. My 1st JDM head and my experimentation with driver stopped.. How boring and bad for business i say lol.. Saved me lots despite the price really come

to think of it. The CB46 recommendation has really fitted me T, thanks although the Royal Deco is tempting :)

Cant wait til the prgr rep arrives so I can tinker a little with swing & set up with this bad boy.

The REP is on the way already and you should have it soon!

I've tried to groove my swing with the Ryoma to catch the ball on the upper toe part of the sweet spot

It does go farther. It can almost feel like a mis hit, until you get down the fairway and see how flippin far it went.

T ur right. most defiantly.

balls in trees only end up in one kind of birdie.

ive hit the ryoma with all differnt weighted shafts . form 58 to 83

the distance king with the ryoma head was definatly the crazy sigma 50 .

,but boy oh boy was it heavy .

built this brute to 337 gram to get it to d2

YIKES.!

didnt last long had 3 weeks with it and had a tight back day one day and it killed me.

lost a small fortune and far too much distance.

the slightest off day in swing or my back or shooulder, any sort of "offness" the result was really poor.

the over all best combo i think is either with the stinger, or pthe crazy noir, thats what ive gone back to, picking that up tonight. the noir80

i was scouring my unheaded shafts box last night , and i found my disgarded 787 bangvoo.

i have a hunch these two could be a very good match.

this will get done next week instead of the superlongest yard which is too light.

I too noticed that a Strike off the Toe went/travelled more.... Intact my longest measured Drive(297yards) was off the Toe, I always thought it was 'cos off the Toe it put more Top Spin!

What drills did you do to groove that move? There is a stat called driving efficiency now on the PGA tour, basically it measures how close are you to maximizing your distance given your swing speed. David Toms is top 3 and James Driscoll is at the bottom. I am more James Driscoll. I hit down on everything, seems to be worse this year for me. According to Trackman etc (AndrewRicegolf.com) at 90mph and efficient swing with an upwards strike a person can get the ball out there 255 or so. Me I struggle to get to 250 consistently at 96-98MPH, toe hits might be better!

So if you have a drill or something that has given you the upswing toe I am all ears!

I think you need to get rid of that Ryoma driver. I am willing to take it off your hands for $200:)

I will let you know--do you have "The Hammer---KaPOWWW" you can trade?!

The Toe thing is for real, played Monday, drivable par 4-- 289 down hill a bit probably plays 270 max.

I hit my drive and the guy paired with me says that's hit pretty well. I said "Naahhh hit it on the toe". I am searching short of the green driving my self nuts--ball is beyond the green in the rough--top of a hill.

after trying all the shafts in this head, ive finally settled on one for sure.

the noir 80, it was the first shaft i had in this, and i hit it superbly when i first made it.

but thought i wasnt getting enough distance so i swapped it out.

how wrong i was, i get a baby draw most shots which is most unusual for me.

flight is low mid. lots of roll. and plenty of oomph to cut thru any wind.

wont be touching this agn!

its a great match.
