Eca
Hey Marty, I know there's a Slight diff in those 2 heads but which is actually performing better? You mentioned the DI feels better, Cheers E
sundowner
Well I will keep you posted! Crazy Royal Deco on its way... Which flex do you play in Crazy RD and which in GD DI?
stevopagolf
Which flex do you play in Crazy RD and which in GD DI? I went with Stiff Regular in both. Royal Deco being shafted today. Man do the walls of that shaft look thin! Has to be the high carbon count. I am a 96-100 MPH SS. Low end of stiff. I find that if I get something too stiff it goes right. The Ryoma is so anti left that if the Royal Decoration is a little soft maybe I get a soft draw. The Ryoma just wants to fly straight... stevopagolf
It sounds like much fun-) What are your headweight, playing length and cpm with the RD? Going to have the head weight measured when the shaft that is in it is removed. I am going to play it at 46 inches. No idea what it will CPM at when it is done. idrive
The CPM of the RD shaft is very hard to use as a standard. It is very low and seems as if there is something wrong with it. Get the right flex for your SS and the SW you like and don't concern yourself with the final CPM because it is so low you'll think something is wrong and it's not going to work. I do suggest that you play this shaft 46-47" in length.

You mentioned the DI feels better, Cheers E The DI performs better for me,. same same ball flight ( high ),. more carry,.. can really feel the active kick point more with the DI than the Crazy,. I like them both for sure,. but better results with the DI Cheers, Marty

stevopagolf
UPDATED---- (first post updated too) OK, the shaft came in--in the usual ROCKET FAST timing I have come to know and love at TSG! How is it I can get stuff from Japan faster than I can from stuff I buy in the US....but I digress. I was very skeptical (I always am not just on golf stuff) that this new combo of Ryoma and Crazy Royal Decoration was going to due much vs the Tour AD DI-6. 1st time out here are my observations: Some testing information: I will be 45 in a little bit. My SS on trackman is 92-100 lets call it 95. Swinger, not hitter. More Ernie Els than Tiger Woods. Played same tees, same 9 holes. 37 degrees with the new combo. 55 degrees with the Tour AD DI-6 last outing For me it seems that the Ryoma Head (199G) likes a longer lighter shaft. Played the RD at 46.25, Tour AD at 45.75. RD is 48g vs 65ish in the DI-6. Both SR flex RD was easier to load. Both are very smooth shafts. RD for me felt better and needed less effort which is important especially in the cold. Hit the RD farther. I actually drew a couple drives which is hard as the RYOMA wants to go dead straight. Hit 2 bombs in the cold. One uphill 240 yards over the bunker (the DI-6 left me in the bunker thought I nutted it!) 280 yard par 4, 240-245 carry to get to a hill....was 5 yards short of the green. Was shocked to see my ball there. Prior week I was 30 yards out. Was very surprised in the cold how well it went. Bottom line, I was very surprised I felt a difference between shafts and surprised I got better more distance. I was not a believer that a shaft could make that much difference. I am guessing 8-10 yards which is a lot. HAVE TO AGREE on the Newing ball. Feels great on all clubs and soft to putt! Looks brand new after 9 holes in the cold...I was very surprised. Great review Stevo! Did u also use same ball? What did the new combo SW to? Mine is coming & it's a battle in my head what playing length I'm gonna do. I'm always a 44.5 & my 45.5 ryoma/cb46 works great A Kim style grip. Any thoughts?

I did hit a TM Red LDP on a few holes which was the ball I used last week. I think the SW is D3-4. I would go 46 at least with the Royal Deco. But more than 45,25 seems to me very very long. Could you compare the distances with the same ball sometimes, please?

Length if for balance for sure. It is very light at 48 G. I think they actually recommend the RD to be played long. I did use the same ball on several holes (TM LDP Red) I did hit the RD longer than the Tour DI-6. I really did like the Super Newing ball.. gocchin
As I recommend to everyone I fit the RoyDeco with it is best at least at 45.5" and the reason for this is the profile of the shaft. It is stiffer in the tip and mid section which is why the launch stays reasonably down and still has good control. The feel comes from the softer butt and is why smoother and slower swingers can get the shaft to load and feel it. But cutting it too short, it means some of the feel in the butt is lost and the sensation of loading the shaft. 45" is still doable (but I still say 45.5" or more), anything under that I would recommend going with another Crazy or other light weight shaft from another brand. Steve, I am very glad it worked for you and we could get it too you fast!

stevopagolf
What´s about control with the RD? No control issues whatsoever. In fact I almost wish I went 47 inches long! Ball flight was excellent. I could hit it high, or medium no issues at all.
Eca
Exact same results as iDrive at 46.5 I'm gonna try 46.5 and see what happens. Can always trim i suppose :)
