armitage
Guys, need your help to pick a shaft for the Crazy 435 II (9.5 degree, 1 degree closed, 202g). I originally shafted it with a TJ-80 7.7 got from Supo67, it's a great combo and I can hit 280 to 300 with it for at least 1/3 of my shots. But it's just a tad too stiff for me which forces me to swing really hard at the ball to square the head. This also means for the other 2/3 of the shot, I either duck hook or releasing it straight to the right. Overall, the trajectory is just so low and I have to tee it high or tilt my body more to adjust. Last week, to experiment a bit, I put in a Black-50 6.9 in there and it's just not working for me at all, while losing all the distance. I still have a i'lima shaft sitting idle and wondering whether I should give that a try. Unfortunately I've never tested my swing speed or club head cpm before. I need your advise on a shaft (doesn't have to be crazy) to get this thing in the air and also allow me to hit it more consistently with ease (although I love to smash it hard...). Ideally, the shaft have to be lighter (around 60g) and still maintain low spin on the ball. Supo has suggested in one of his post that Crazy CB-80LS Noir Shaft is the ideal shaft for this head, I'm tempting to get the 7.4 flex. Anyone else has played with this head before? Thanks in advance for your comments.
sandee11
I think ilima will help to get the ball in the air.
bogeydog
Quadra Proto. A mid trajectory launch but much more user friendly. SX flex.
supo
if u want to sell that shaft il have it back immediatly, ill re-do the same bloody club i stooooooooopidly broke up in the first palce! its the best shaft for the crazy 435 ive tried. its absolutelky perfect. massively long combo and light. i would seriously consdier getting the softer flex in it , if its to stout. all the shafts i tried in my 435 s , nothing has played better than that, i should never havebroken that up. but i lived and learned. the illima in the 435 2 get the ball in th air well ,but i found it baloons. the proto migh be ok, but it will be pretty low ,not a low as the crazy. seriosuly , id go the same crazy in softer flex. nothing i tried was better. stinger ... illima....crazy 80 ls noir....p9003x... maybe a GD di will go ok in this , just thinking ............,. Spoon
yeah i higher launching smoother shaft would be ideal. also suggesting the di7s. or if you have more budget a quadra fire express proto 75s. those are mid to high launch super low spin. will do well with your low launching crazy
Eca
How is that RoyDeco in stiff performing for you? From the shafts you're using including your fwy & hybrid that seem on the soft side? Maybe Crazy in the 7.2-7.4 that has a high launch characteristics?
Vegaman
How is that RoyDeco in stiff performing for you? From the shafts you're using including your fwy & hybrid that seem on the soft side? Maybe Crazy in the 7.2-7.4 that has a high launch characteristics? Well, the LY series is very light weight and still stiff enough. Since you wrote you want a light shaft (60 gr) and swing pretty hard the Black LY 01 HOT Black seems like a perfect fit at exactly 60 grams in 7.4 or 7.7 flex. It's also described as high launch with the focus on pure carry which sounds exactly like what you need in a shaft. The 435 II is the lowest of all heads from what I understand, so a light, high launch shaft like the HOT seems like a perfect fit. EDIT: Sorry, I wrote this for armitage. armitage
Thank you all for the great comments and suggestions. I now regret most about ordering the 202g head on the 435 II, which I believe is the problem for me. That's why I think I need a lighter shaft not a lesser flex TJ46 LY 7.7 (just realized not TJ80), although it's a great shaft indeed. Thinking back on the limited Crazy shaft I used, I still think the stoutness and the kick provided by Royal Deco is top notch and above all others. Anyone tried the 435 II with Black LY 01 HOT Black or Royal Deco before? Tario, any thoughts? Thanks. Anyone tried the 435 II with Black LY 01 HOT Black or Royal Deco before? Tario, any thoughts? Thanks. Well, I have the LY-02 in x flex(8.2) in a tourstage 703, but i had that shaft in a deep faced very low spin/launch Vega DAF head before and its very stable and high launch. It came out at 279 cpm and weighs under 60 gram, so that's a great recipe for a distance shaft. Usually light means soft, but that will probably not be the case with the LY 01 HOT , that shaft will play stiffer than most and at the same time be lighter than most, something that is actually pretty rare if you ask me. I'm guessing here, but the RD is probably at least a flex softer than the LY 01 HOT in the same "flex". And maybe more tip active, suitable for somebody with a smoother swing style? And the LY 01 HOT is more of a harder swinger/hitters shaft? Tario will know for sure.
