mygreenaliem
I am relatively new to the forum and wanted to start to contribute on experiences etc. First off, Tario has been BRILLIANT and has never ceased to stop to help. He has assisited in selection of wedges, wedge shafts, Crazy driver and now two Crazy driver shafts. It is the Crazy driver and shaft I will share my experience, though the story will not end here. Earlier this year I purchased an R11 and had my clubmakers in UK build it with a Fubuki Alpha 70X5ct X Flex cut to 44 inches. When I received it I spent a long time tring it out and eventually ended up with the head on the following settings: 9 Degrees loft Neutral Club Face 6g weight in heel 1g weight in toe The distances ranged from 260 yards to I kid you not 340 yards. Generally there was never much roll (I use PV1x). The driver never became consistent either and so I took some video footage of the swing and saw that on the down swing at 9 o clock position, the shaft was bent like a (huge) banana with the arc facing up rather than down! I compared it to driver videos of players on tour and their shafts pretty much stay straight. After reading about the Crazy driver and shaft and after much discussion with Tario, we decided on the 435II 9.5 deg head with 80 LS shaft 7.7 flex, 45.25 inches long. When it arrived - wow what a tool! Anyhow, I spent a while using it and for sure the shaft was awesome, ball flight quite low and penetrating and LOADS of roll and consistently straight but felt it was hard work. I remember being on the range and one of the european tour guys was bashing his R11 into the back bunker and so was I!!! His face was a picture. Weights in the head were all 1g's. Anyway, I liked the feel of the club at address etc, but wanted a lighter feeling club, to feel the head more in the swing and I could not really feel the shaft kick. So, back to poor old Tario (thanks for your patience) and a discussion about the Royal Dec. I decided on giving this a go and three days ago a stiff arrived. So I am going to swap the 80ls out and put the RoyDec in and then also put the 80LS in the R11 as Tario felt with putting the sleeve on it would soften the shaft a bit and this wil also be a good test as Tario was not aware of a crazy going into an R11 yet. (Only thing is I cant get hold of the interchangeable sleeve att he moment!!). So, when the drivers come back I will have some fun doing back to back tests and hopefully have two mega drivers! Story TBC.... After a long wait I got to try the Crazy head with the new Royal dec shaft (spec 46.5 inches long and swing weight D2). As you can imagine, the excitement and anticipation was electrifying. The club looked and felt great. In the hands the shaft felt a bit whippy to what I am used to and also VERY LONG!! I hit about 40 balls with the royal dec and compared it back to back with my current driver TM burner tp with mitsu javln X stiff, 73 g cut to 44 inches. It did not go well. For sure the royal dec is longer but it went left right and straight and no way near as consistent as my old driver. Even got one of the club pros to watch and he was amazed at the difference. So given the old club is still being hit well, I guess my choice in royal dec shaft is wrong - which I am gutted about as I love the crazy head and the shafts - just need to find the right one, but its getting expensive. Tario has been excellent in his advice to me, I have just gone in the wrong direction. So my quest continues to get the right Crazy Shaft or do keep trying to make this baby work for me? I don't really want to change my swing given I am good with the old one - just want a lighter shaft and more distance as I am getting old! The original Crazy LS 80 is being put into my R11 head and I am going to see how this works. Views/suggestions would be appreciated as I need a bit of cheering up! Eca
Hi, thanks for sharing. I was so certain that once you mentioned Royal Deco, it will be an SX coming from 7.7 Let us know how the S goes. What's ur SS btw? I average at 102mph & eyeing S flex. mygreenaliem
Hi, thanks for sharing. I was so certain that once you mentioned Royal Deco, it will be an SX coming from 7.7 Let us know how the S goes. What's ur SS btw? I average at 102mph & eyeing S flex. Thanks. My swing speed (measured about 5 years ago) for the driver was around 115mph but I am older (it's arguable I am wiser) and think I have slowed down and so will be re-measured next week when I go back to UK. Will certainly post results and give feedback. Won't be til Jan though as I am now travelling.

gocchin
One easy answer.... the RoyDeco is way too soft flex for you at S flex especially since you are averaging 117mph!! We are changing you to an X!
supo
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm id think perhaps the longest yard 01 or what ever that has morphed to now? thast the longest straightest shaft in a 435 head ive ever hit. that shaft in that head was unbeatable, but it plyed at 46 inch which i hated. felt like a fishing rod but gawd it went. just irked me. the crazy black 50 in 7.7 0r 8.2 is another u should get some dialogue on im using that in my yamaha tour head right now and im very chuffed with it. so much its my gamer. take everyting to the range and reach for this baby every time.., the shaft is very hard , but repsonsive, i cant snap hook this thing. no siree. im beginning to think this is geeting close to pole possy

I really like the LY01 but its not quite the distance shaft the RoyDeco is. It is however very balanced. On another note. Are you back in Japan? Pole Possy indeed - I like your style! I have some VERY GOOD and interesting feedback for you. I decided to try the 80LS Noir in my R11 head. Got it back tonight and met my mate at the range (jeans, trainers, cold and no intention to hit balls!). When he handed me the club, MAN did it feel good - it just felt right! He said "just hit one...." I hit seven or eight balls and I can honestly say I have not had such a good response. The first one went long with a slight fade, second low slightly to the right (swung to hard), slowed my takeaway down and BINGO - great flight, striaght as an arrow and long! I was cold and tight and ...... Go figure that one out. I am amazed/gobsmacked and drooling at the thought of going to my range tomorrow in the sun and hitting proper balls. Still going to get a royal dec to put in my Crazy head, but man, the 80 LS noir in the R11 head is a weapon indeed!
