Posted March 29, 201212 yr So, as someone who is new to JDM clubs, help me out here. Give me a quick education on JDM clubs. Whats considered to be the best? Whats the best selling brand in Japan?
March 29, 201212 yr impossible!!! all of them. i think ur covered with endo forged clubs , thast a given. the brand is up to the individual. thers no best just best looking and match the shaft for ur swing read and u shall be enlightened grasshopper
March 29, 201212 yr I think JDM clubs are already at it's best as compare to the rest of the world in terms of quality build and attention to details. However, what's 'best' will depend greatly on each individual on what he/s he want to achieve.
March 29, 201212 yr Yamaha and Epon are trusted names.....PRGR and ONOFF are very good companies as is Tourstage.......really couldnt go wrong if you like the way it looks and it is your type of club......there are basically only 3 club heads, you have blades, CBs and GI irons....figure out which head design you like and then choose a shaft and u are set ! As for drivers...haha, go cash in some of your 401k and be prepared to spend a fortune in search of the holy grail !
March 29, 201212 yr Author How does Mizuno rate in terms of JDM clubs? Im loving my Tourstage putter thus far and cant wait for my Tourstage driver and 5-wood to get here. Ive always loved Bridgestone's balls but never really tried their clubs before. Ive always heard good things though. Edited March 29, 201212 yr by Gaijin_Golfer
March 29, 201212 yr Author Last summer I was at a summer flea market in NE Wisconsin and came across an old Yamaha driver. It was a metalwood and they only wanted $50 for it. I almost bought it and kind of wished I would have.
March 29, 201212 yr Here's my take on Japanese domestic golf clubs. Quality tends to be impressive. Irons are excellent if not too strong lofted which many are. My Miuras have normal lofts for the modern era. There is a scarcity of low bounce wedges in most Japanese lines. Many of the designs are beautiful, but I wasn't able to live with the high bounce angles. Fairway woods and hybrids have beautiful design engineering, but the former in particular tend to be very upright. It's pretty routine to see Asian players at address with the toes of their woods pointing to the sky. Also, there are few high loft options. It must be some kind of machismo thing, but 12-14 ;deg. drivers are few and far between. Basically, if you like the fit metrics of Japanese clubs, you won't likely be disappointed with the other considerations. Edited March 29, 201212 yr by NiftyNiblick
