Val Gunn
Yes, I'm a bit weird. Back in the 80's I demo'd a set of Tommy Armour EQL irons and really liked it, but never ended up buying them. TA stopped making them and I played with my conventional Calloway irons up until two years ago when I picked up a set of clubs from 1 Iron Golf. It is a single-length set with club-head swing-weights all the same. For me it has really worked well (not saying it will for everyone) and wondering if there are others who play like this as well. Also wondering if there are any Japanese manufacturers who make something along the same lines. Hope to hear some feedback. Thanks in advance! Val Gunn
A quick follow up, which applies to custom builds: I'm not happy with the look and design of the 1 Iron club heads so I want to build my own. I'm looking to build using all 7-irons (perfect SW for me) and then bend the heads to match the loft angles of the other irons in the set. Before I get too far down the road, I want to get some feedback. Bending to a 6i or 8i is one thing, but going down to a 3i or up to a PW is another. Is this possible to do? (I'd have a pro club head repairer do the work) Which brand would you recommend? (Enon was mentioned) Do they make it for Left-Handers? (This is critical for me)
supo
no its not . ' the max my guy will bend a club is 3-4 * after that he says it compromises the integirty of the steel too much and its very suseptable to breaking. i think what ur trying to do is impossible
FatMan
You'll be hard pressed to find a manufacturer to sell you multiple heads of the same iron. Bending the loft angles to accommodate your set-up will greatly affect the bounce angles. Best to find manufacturers that specialize in this. Spoon
Why? I know your are trying to re experience The 1iron club bu today's forgings are so specialized There is no need to. Clubs are also designed for a purpose Bending them to impossible secs will ruin the design and intended Purpose.
EdGolf
Why dont just buy a set of heads (#3-p) and then just shaft them the same lenght?
Val Gunn
Why dont just buy a set of heads (#3-p) and then just shaft them the same lenght? Club-head weight is not even. I could offset the difference with lead tape I suppose.
EdGolf
I would think offsetting the head weights to your ideal SW are much easier than adjusting each loft lol
