Tourstage 2012 X-Blade 707 - First Impressions

My previous two sets of irons were the Miura 1957 blades and the original Titleist VG3's, if you were to morph both of these sets together they would produce the Tourstage X-Blade 707.

As Tario says, this irons is all about the latest technology in golf club design. Looks wise, a wee bit smaller than mid size with a thin top line, the muscle back at the bottom rear is noticeable at address of the 4 iron but only just. There is a tungsten sole weight covering the whole sole which, I presume is the reason the club number is placed near the toe, the sole is not small compared to the Miura's but then again what is? The back cavity face is very decorative and I am not sure if this is not some sort of plastic covering, smallish offset. I had these shafted with the Nippon Modus 3. Off to the range......

I warmed up with the Miura's then switched. At address, the ball is framed perfectly for me and the club sits perfect for alignment. The feel of the head is very solid with a smooth feel, very similar to my previous Yamaha Tour irons. There is no clicky noise. Distance wise excellent and I would say, I was gaining at least half a club. Surprisingly so, also forgiving. After hitting a couple of buckets of balls, I am very, very impressed. I must admit, I hit my Miura's really well but overall I hit these better.

Hopefully, I will play a practice round at the weekend and continue my assessment.

Very pure club. One of the best overall clubs in combination of feel, distance, forgiveness and looks.

Three further range sessions and one on course practice round further:-

These clubs are seriously good. Feel is excellent, you know where the ball has struck the face, good shots are rewarded bad shots are highlighted but forgiven to some extent. You know immediately where the ball

is going. Very workable either way and the distance is as good as any. Purists will hate the graphics and the club number on the toe for some reason is confusing/awkward but these are minor points. This is one hell of a club

and super glued in my bag.

love the new shape better than the older models

i like the clicky feel to them, they arnt buter soft which i like esp in blades bec u get feedback form where ur hitign the ball.

the new Ts gear is pretty well.., striking looks wise. Ts nad yamaha seem to have gone the same direction.

no surprises there!

im not a fan of the looks of the cavities but im a humongous fan of the results.

they look too busy for my eye but plability wise,

musatrd.
