supo
had a big old hit with both yesterday to discover the secrets of both for myself finally. c-tapers.., low launch (low spin. id think )very tinny kind of feel very straight. imagine these will go great in tough conditions. when u need to keep em running low and stright. feel was interesting. nothing like what im used to. but i can see why they get air time out there. they are great looking shafts too. i didnt get them to sing very well. but i dont think thats what they are for. these were ernie and phils protos( i beleive) . interesting to see how they go. they perform very very well and under presssure of a hard hit , they dont go where they arnt sposed to go. thye just lack a nice clean feel, esp with the quality of the heads that were on them, that was a dissapointment the performance wasnt. i guess the c-tapers are made for the more robust strong player that can really get in to his shots on every shot.. these ones seems to be especially straight and they arnt that stiff either! good shafts the c-tapers, def not for everyone modus3 TX flex. never used these before either. got a heaps of the DP protos which the modus came form but no retail actual modus. high,( not floating) stable flight . ball ljust drops form apex to ground. i was worrried these would over shoot the target first few shots. no siree, they just dropped perfectly feel is very reminiscent of the protos but a little toned down , a bit softer all round. extremely nice to hit, much nicer to play than the 1150 and 1050s. diffentt kick. i like the 1150 flight better they had a solid arc , i get high soaring bombs wit the 1150s but the modus are a better control shaft for certian. much better to take dead aim. and get s close. spin seems higher with them as well. not sure if thtas hte case or not , but thats what i thought. the better to play shafts are the modus by a country mile. wasnt great conds yesterday and i had no probs in just taking dead aim and letting the shaft do its thing. the modus are a pleasure to play. these ARE for everyone. Spoon
I haven't touched my modus in over a year. They have cured My chronic addiction o steel shafts. My next set will be blades And they will be shafted with modus as well.

coops1967
Anyone know anywhere i can test the modus 3 and ctapers in bangkok? (with same head, preferably)... Currently use PX satins at +1/2"and 6.0 flex, not terribly forgiving on bad swings - i used rifle 6.5 before ( the stepless Brunswick Precision model i think) and did so happily for many many years... which was why i jumped at the PX's. Those old rifles felt way better though... saw a titleist iron shaft chart which has the modus 3'sright next to the old rifle in spin/ launch, so perhaps they play very similairly too... i've tried verious NS shafts before, once with a direct same titleist head with TT shaft and have always found the other NS shafts to produce very unpredictable results... my bad swings don't go where i'd expect them to ( a pull or pull hook, or hook) and even a good feeling swing could end up anywhere it seemed - the TT,s in comparison were 'normal' as in my results were as expected really. thanks chris
DaleUK
I can't see me changing from the Modus shafts
Mjr. D
I opted for Modus 3 Tour X flex shafts over C-Tapers. I hope I made the right decision...
potuna
I had Modus stiff and flight was very high with bad dispersion. C-tapers still are fairly high but much better dispersion. KBS claims 5% lower, 5% less spin and 5% more distance. Modus felt too soft and I don't get along with any butt soft shaft. X flex in them might be better but since C-taper works so well I'm not going through that experiment.
supo
gets very expensive time consuming, nad not to mention fkkkks with yr head when u start changing irons shafts around every week. like ive been doing this last yr. im at the end of this experimentation now. and have a fairly good view of all the shaft ive played . out of the DG the best ive found are the x-100s. dont care for the s200-300-400 much at all. form the NS range the 1150 tour have what i like to see in ball flight , but they are bit ,well over shooters at times. i get a lot of distacne with these. the modus3 really grabbed me. as i mentioned above. the SP blue are the ones id use all the time in wind, they have the same kind x-100 flight but with some nicer feel to them and the allrounder for every day is easily the shimada tour 120s... i ve got that in my epon 302 7 iron to play around with , and its such a good shaft not high no t low , def has a nice kick and doesnt seem to loose its dispersion. love this shaft. litle on the expensive side tho
Spoon
one shaft will not work for everyone. boils down to feel. the modus has every bit of everything and more imho. works for me and although softer to Flex compared to its US counterparts i am very happy with it. although i should have gamed the X flex, i welcome the softer S for where i am at today. @Potuna, yeah you should try the X. the S is more like an SR shaft. i assure you the X will play like a different animal, tighter, lower spin guaranteed
Mjr. D
I have the Ozik Program 130's in my Epon 302's and they definitely launch high but even though they say high spin, the carry really well and drop with a perfect amount of spin. Great dispersion and feel too. I didn't like them at first but I do now. Anyone have any experience with the new Attus Graphite shafts? coops1967
I've had one Modus 3 installed in my 7 iron at 'normal' 37" long. The only flex they had at Golfcraft was S - so it's gone in, and will it give it a good trial versus my old satin PX 6.0's.... Installed it freq'd out at 310 cpm (i think), which was same as another 7 iron with a PXi at 5.5 flex.... so should be a good comparison. they've got C-tapers as well there if i can't resist the urge..... supo
gwet the 8 iron done and compare them, best way to test if u aint got a duplicate set. i do this all the time, the namke a decision, ill normally do 3 -7-8 with diff shafts to compare, been getting great results witthis method. some shafts just dont suit my swing in some heads , but suit prefectly in others trial /error
lulululu
I am really tempted to reshaft my 302 with Modus 3 after hearing so much good comments here, currently I have C-taper in S flex on my irons and the club maker recommended to go for X flex for Modus as NS pro tends to play one flex less, I just have a little bit of hestitation if X would be too stiff for me. My 6 iron ss is 85, strong late release.
