Which shaft for Ryoma Vspec 10.5?

After much ho-ing over the past couple of years, my gamer golf bag is fixed apart from the driver, so looking for some good advice here.....

Lucked out on a Ryoma Vspec 10.5 (197g) and have been doing my homework trying to figure out best shaft combo for it. From what I have read the Ryoma heads don't launch as high as might be expected, so am looking to pair this with something that gives me that "rainbow" flight and keeps me in the fairway so I can lower the HCP!!! It's not really a windy place here in Brisbane, so I don't need this driver to go low (I have the JBeam for that!). I do need a driver with carry and accuracy. For me, gone are the days of stiff-tip extra stiff shafts. I just can't do that for 18 holes, let alone 2 or 3 days in a row!!!

I have 2 shafts sitting here: (1) FEX Proto 75s (76g, 2.9tq), and (2) Crazy Boron sx (69g, 3.1tq)

What combo should I go for first? Although it would feel sublime, I fear the Crazy might go too high in this head and it might have to be another project, for another head.....another time....

You can see from my signature WITB at the moment - swing speed 105+ with a bit of late hit wrist lag.

Many thanks experts

D

I always thought the Ryoma was an high easy launch head? Need to study this a bit because I have a chance to get a V-spec 8.5 for not too much money (expensive enough though) and thought that would be a good fit because I usually hit the ball pretty high, and I thought that the Ryoma was high launch.

Those I know with Ryomas almost to a tee say "lower than you'd expect for such a forgiving head"......I'm sweeping the ball better these days (and getting older), so launch has come down

Vega,

if its any help. Same shaft and ball, the V-Spec 9.5 launches noticeably lower than the AF101 9.5.

That's all the confirmation I need to give the Crazy Boron a try in the Ryoma first. Should feel pretty sweet and the softer shaft might allow me to shape the ball just a smidge!

Thanks

yep....i normally play very low lofts in heads and am most comfortable with the 10.5 Ryoma Vspec......i did have the 8.5 and the 9.5 as well but they hit penetrating bullets instead of the high bombs that i wanted......JDM drivers such as crazy and Ryoma and Yamaha are some of the few drivers out there that you can play in a high loft and get massive carry without worrying about ballooning the ball....My 10.5 pierces through the wind if i hit it square

Good infor here, I might pass on the 8.5 Ryoma then. Or get a low kick shaft for it. Before reading this I figured I might get this head and put a low launch shaft like a Xstiff Miyzaki Kusala Black in it to get a medium not too high ball flight..Oops.

I tried the black which I find to be a true low launch and low spin shaft. Big trouble with my Ryoma for me. Not only is the shaft hard to load, due to the low spin of the V spec head couple with the low spin of the Black, many times the ball just died due to too little spin.

Ok, good to know. I have a Black Xstiff that I'm not using at the moment, so I thought I might get the ryoma 8.5 and fit it to that. Thanks for the "warning" ha ha. Yeah, the Black is not exactly whippy that's true.. might be too much in a Ryoma 8.5 then.
