myfile_0.movCurrent set

driver - ryoma 9.5 driver with oban kiyoshi 65 05 flex

3w- taylormade r11 15.5 with Hdtp 7 x stiff

hybrid - adams super hybrid 19 with matrix 8h stiff

4-pw vega raf 01 prototype with modus3 stiff

Sky dream jump pro tb 51,56,58 - modus3 stiff

putter - bettinardi custom 2010

new set thats going to be ordered:

Diamana X driver shaft - 60 xs flex

Crazy Black 16* Fairway head

Crazy fw 80 Fairway shaft - stiff/x

Baldo 21* hybrid head

Crazy Black hybrid shaft - stiff

Muira CB 501 irons with PXI shafts 6.0

im not too sure about the crazy black 3w head because it states that at set up it is square to slightly open face (i prefer a square set up as my bad shots is a push) . i may change to the prgr egg spoon 3w instead. what do you think?

crazy fw80 shaft i opted for stiff/x because i hear that they play stiffer? ( that is what i told my fitter but he said go for x) also what other 3w shafts would you recommend?

i chose the crazy black hybrid shaft in s flex because it states 98-108 mph swing speed which i just about make with my hybrid. i initially wanted the quadra utility shaft but theres no 70x stiff. i hear that the quadra shaft play softer than stated?

ive been on the trackman system with my old clubs and fitter said that i have gained some strength. from the figures that i can remember (carried out at golf principle UK)

iron swing speed was 93 mph used to be in the 80's

3w was 10x

driver 110-115

(i'll message him later for full stats)

In addition the reason i wanted to change my driver shaft was because i was getting 3500 rpm of spin. before i had the oban in a r11 which gave me less spin.

ooooooooh good stuff...........!

driver if its ryoma MAKE SURE U GET IT HEAVIER than 198 gram 202 or 204 is so much better.

iknow htis

ijust rebuilt my 2 202 and 204 gains in distance is significant raises centre of gravity makes shots lower

much much much better driver build

diamana x perfect choise. i sugegst the 70x for you at 44.75 or 45 inch

crazy f16 head 16.5* is this the one(?) is so its great very good choice.

crazy fw 8- 8.2 flex................!!!!!

DONT get the lesser flex at yr swing speed!

crazy ute shaft in s spot on not a worry there at all.

best ute shaft by a mile .

baldo = oh nononononononononono......,

look at hte royal collection new utes. nothing better than these!

miura 501 what are those?

have a look at a few other newer options and the range from miura giken NOT miura usa

the cb1006 or new cb 1007 if u like miura.

or my new favourites that i dont play but the design and shape is my fav of the new lot , the srixon z-tx .

just my 2 bob.

for what its worth ( at yr ss which is mine)

ithink u cud do worse than check these out!

nooo ive got the 19x gram ryoma head already with the oban. i was just thinking of pulling that shaft out and putting the diamana x in. might have to order heavier head

alright i'll let my fitter know about the flexes thanks for your advice. much appreciated

how about the prgr 2011 utility head? instead of the baldo

and whats wrong with miura usa products? i originally wanted the LE yamaha v forged tour but TSG have sold out. oh how about the 2012 v forged ? im just scared that the top line thickness is too much. so i opted for miura CB 501's which are pretty thin

Instead of ordering a heavier head, using weight pin or powder, I wrap about 2 1/2 inch of lead tape on the neck of my Premia. The Premia head is already 197g. I did not bother to weight the lead tape nor the final swing weight but the result has been most encouraging. With the heavier head and SW, i am driving the ball much more consistently and less wrist action. Thanks to gbs who suggested it, this turns out to be a free yet most rewarding experiment.

The silver band is the lead tape.

or................ where that bulb is on the back , put some lead tape over the gold emblem , my clubbuilder that introiduced me to the ryoma did this for my first one. it bought he flight down and made it heavier. i just coloured the lead tape in black pen and it looks fine

the yamaha tour irons are great , the newer models are very much geared towards greater control, the 2011 are a lot more robust!

u can get a set of thoese without too many problems id think.

nothings wrong with miura USA.... its just not miura giken. apples and apples.

as they say the "whole miua giken experience fitting experience is priceless"

the isms are much better blade than the 1957 which are just an issue ,the isms are customed made , best selected shafts blahblahblah...... im not extolling miura really ,but ive got a few sets they are good.

IMO

yamaha are as good if not better , but a differnt style of club, dont worry about thick topline, they arnt ,and the narrow neck assures ur looiking at a VERY pro esque club . the 2011 ESPECIALLY so.

Is the result the same, if a lead/brass weight is added in the shaft/neck??

  • 2 weeks later...

U can move the weight around as much as u want........ernie els used to put lead tape on the shaft right above the hosel and some guys used to put tape under the grip ( which is the complete opposite and used to counterbalance a club ) With hotmelt you could move the fluid around to where u wanted it......this was only significant when adding 5-8 grams...Then you could place it on the sole by letting it rest flat and harden there and that would lower MOI but if you let the hot melt go to the rear of the club that would be neutral and on the crown would raise the MOI resulting in more of a bullet type flight......If i were u i would just use some lead tape and move it around .......if you only need a few grams, a couple short strips will do....and if you dont like it, just peel it off.....if anything i would like to reduce weight in the hosel.....i remember back in the 975D days when Joe Kwok would cut the hosel down to change the MOI of the bore through.....that guy was certainly an innovator ! He should have been a club designer !
