JakeBarnes
I've been playing the KBS Tours and I'm killing the 5,6,7,8 in mine. Of late my 3 and 4 have been fine but not like the others. Could be age, could be shaft. I'm playing around with a few options for those at the moment. I've often thought about the C-Tapers but was told they weren't much of an improvement over the current Tours. I haven't hit them as of yet so I really can't comment. Of late everyone here as me thinking Modus until I read one report that they're higher than the KBS which had me out at that point. Also I think one posted said they had trouble hitting knockdowns with them and that's a shot I love to play with so no need even thinking any more for me on those. While I like the feel of the NS, I've always thought I lost too much distance to spin. At present, the KBS wedge shafts in my wedges are ideal for flight, and feel. The KBS Tours have been very good for me in feel and spin. My swing is really top notch at the moment and I had a very good four hour range sesshy the other day. Killing everything but the 3 and 4. I might just need to step down in flex for those irons and stick with what I've got in everything else. I love the c-taper in my 901s. I have a fast tempo that creates high spin and ballflight. Became interested in the c-taper because most said it would for reducing both. Ballflight is a touch higher than i imagined it would be, but it s boring and strong. Added some distance for me, which is nice. Plus the higher ballflight makes it nicer in the lower irons for holding greens regardless of the reduced spin. Now i just hop and stop... No excessive rollback. They also feel so smooth when you load them. I've really enjoyed the versitility they have given me and the feel they provide, even on touch or knockdown shots. If they fit your profile, is highly suggest trying them out. That's the fun part about equipment, there is always a different holy grail for each person and once you find it, it is ever so sweet. chiromikey
actually, jake's right...i wouldn't say the ball flight is significantly lower but it is noticeably different. instead of climbing to its peak then dropping off a shelf, the ball peaks quickly and arches through its trajectory. i also gained a club's distance over other shafts. Blader-X
Yea, the C-tapers have intrigued me for awhile. I don't use my 9 any longer since the Titleist 46 replaced it and my PW, so maybe I'll have a C-Taper placed in it and have a go. Looks like Goodsie has another club to build for me!!
