FrankThong
Hi, anyone using or have used or tried a CB-80LS, I appreciate any first-hand feedback. Thanks! :)
gocchin
Frank there are quite a few threads in the forum here on the 80LS, it is the favorite of many.

FrankThong
Supo, that's cuz your swing speed breaks the sound barrier. ;) I'm a little concerned it's a bit much for hackers like me to handle.

If your off 10, then this shaft will be very good for you. I have three and another on order. It's a forgiving shaft cause it delivers the head consistently whatever the swing with variables (assuming you have a swing, which off 10, you will have). It's about ensuring your shaft is loaded properly and this is obviously done through your swing path - individual to you. You just need to make sure the flex matches your swing speed, but you cannot go on this alone. You have to go with what you like to feel also. Me, I like to have a solid feeling with a slight kick at impact, therefore I go for a stiffer shaft - my visit to Crazy had my by far best hits (and every shot) with the 80LS at 8.2 flex - I was shocked!! Others will have other preferences. Hope this helps.

I've since moved up to 11, but I have a better short game than long these days so don't let the hcp overly impress. I am of the opinion that high end shafts with low torque are no fun -- too much of a 'one piece' feel for my liking. Could have been the wrong flex, I've been advised to go a flex down with good shafts. The LY01s have been good, a bit too 'springy' and can get a little wild when I really whack it, but I've hit some bombs so yeah, not complaining much. I do wish it was a little less 'springy' though, which I think is adding to the wildness; I think the 80LS would take care of that. However, it's very playable and friendly, I can waltz up to the first tee cold and still manage a decent drive; definitely don't want to lose that! I don't need gear that makes the game harder, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I've decided to get it so it's now about speccing it right for the chosen head. If only it came in that Hello Kitty detailing... ;)

xerobound
I tested this shaft in Japan a while back. It is a very stable shaft and surprising forgiving. Even with the softer flexes I loved how I could feel the clubhead stay with the shaft throughout my swing. I didn't have to try to think about a smooth swing. Was able to just swing away as I was confident that the clubhead would be right there at impact. No worrying about the ball ballooning when I go after one! I thought it had a bit of a firmer feel at impact, but definitely solid and consistent.

FrankThong
Thanks for all your feedback. Not sure if I should be relieved or worried. All the positive notes are from golfers with a low single hcp to scratch! At that level, I am quite certain you are generating enough club head speed to be enjoy the 80LS. At my 90+ mph swing, would I be able to milk it for all its worth?
