confirmed by clubbuilder last night that my strike zone on the sole of the yam13 tours was on the toe which means they are way to flat for my swing

the5i is 38.25 inch he says by straighteneing them 1* upright they willl effectively play to 38inch equivalent so no need to cut or alter them which wud adverlsy affect the swing weight adn make them WAY too light.

thibking this might sort them out a bit for me

Hmmm I'm going to play my 5 iron 38" which is 1/4 in h shorter than my Onoff's!

I think T said standard was like 37.3/4 so I'm going 1* up right too..

Don't you guys have a standard spec that you get clubs made to?

yes.. but bec these shafts were so light he had to make them longer to make the swing weight playable.

as they stand now they are d4 38.25inch

which is pretty nice i must say

my normal specs are 37.75 inch at d2-d3

but he weants me t ogo 38 inch which im not mad on bec i can feel th extra length inm y left linky

i liks shorter clubs it sunconsciuolsy give me a vote of control confidence.

38 inch is probably perfectly fine but 37.75 in ch i nca stick my pinky right at the end of the but and i like that feel.

38.25 IS noticeably long.

The Yams come from the factory with a 62.5* lie PW. That is considered very flat as most (not all)

other OEM's will have the PW at 64* lie. I generally have my PW set at 62* lie which means I usually

bend the lie 2* flat. Not so with the Yams. They may be spot on or need to only be moved .5* flatter.

May I suggest you have your club builder/fitter fit you for proper lie.

I too have a package stuck in customs in LA and unfortunately my Tours have to go through there as well. :( Are they backed up because of the holiday??

Thanks for the info!

I have had 2 fittings both with Epon irons and on both accounts they needed to be knocked up by 1*

I've had then 1* up for a start as with all the Epon's .

I guess I need to know how the Yamahas compare in lie to the Epons !!?

I guess it's a good starting point!.

Does anyone know what the Epon 501 PW lie angle is?

Depends on if you wanna go low tech or high tech...

Low tech, they make plastic plugs you fill with tungsten or lead shot..

Elite makes grips you can add some weight to using lead tape.

Balance certified and and a couple of other outfits make brass/steel inserts.

For graphite shafts in S or X the first two options will prolly be better. You can do it just for SW purposes or you can use it to also impact swing plane... I use it more for swing plane than anything else and am using 44 grams in each club...

Bear in mind you will be sacrificing the grip...

ive seen the elite grips with the weight plug that sticks in the top of the grip thru the pin hole.

I am in the process of moving to an all Elite grip setup, bought like 30 some odd of them not too long ago. Really like the grip, moving from the GripMaster Leather Tour Classics to the A50s.

If you try to add too much weight, then you will hear/feel it strike against the inside of the shaft on contact, but otherwise up to the limit is great. If you need more just use on of the other methods...

Wow starting to hijack the thread...

Finally got my '13 Yamaha gears. Tourmodel 3-PW and wedges 52 and 56 with Modus 3 Stiff.

Couldn't be happier, especially the wedges. I have owned last year's Yamaha wedges and I was bit disappointed with the shape and performance. It was good but nothing extraordinary.

Now, new wedges are something to talk about. Coincidentally, I was using Japan Vokey wedges before the new Yamaha wedges came and these are very very similar to Japan Vokey wedges.

Spin is superb and Modus shafts work perfectly in feel and distance control.

I am ready for '13 season only if the snow is gone.

Sorry to hear that. My first order was caught in Chicago customs for over a week before it got released. It took about 3 weeks to get the package.

My second shipment came in just fine.

one slight slip with the Pen,and Our Customs jump on it like a Spring board!!

it took 1 day to get from Japan to UK,then to cover 100 miles it will be the best part of a week!!

Uk sucks!

Exactly, you would think they would have thought through the process and making sure someone is there to cover for break, their lack of planning is ridiculous.
