Norboo
Anyone own or tried this club? How is the trajectory and forgiveness? Does it live up to the hype?

I do not think the head itself is only for faster swingers especially off the tee which from what I read, is what this new head as apparently developed to address. with the previous Egg, SOME had issue with the very thin profile and lighter weight off the tee. Just pair the HD up with a shaft and flex that suits you and you should be good to go. I have not hit the HD but imagine this to be the case. The HD (IMO) is actually a pretty big improvement over the previous egg.
vincent
the original egg is still the best id say...
Norboo
Is there a way to purchase orginal shaft in reg flex only?
FrankThong
Curiously, the head of Egg Spoon HD, supposedly 'Heavy & Deep', is 2g lighter than the 2nd gen Egg Spoon's head! On the same Crazy FW80, they both feel the same on the swing; impact sound is a little different -- the HD giving a more 'solid' thud than the 2nd gen. The HD flies a little lower (understandably at 0.5° less loft) and maybe, just maybe, a tad longer. If you don't own an Egg Spoon, the HD is going to be way less of a culture shock from whatever other 3-wood you're using. It took me a while to live with the 2nd gen; the swooshy sound on the downswing, the thuddy sound of impact, the too-low profile off a tee -- all takes some getting use to. But once you've tamed it, there's no going back to another 3-wood. If you have the 2nd gen and are looking for a radically improved performance or feel from the HD, you're not going to find it. But I must say, I do like the HD more; the way it sits, the sound and the marginally incremental distance gain is enough for me. It's probably hard to justify springing $500 for just that little bit of difference but if you're anal retentive, like me, you're not going to sleep till you get it. ;)
MoreBeerBetterGolf
The 2nd generation is the worst of the three IMO.
+TourSpecGolfer
I liked the 2nd gen more than the 1st. It was paired with a crazy FW80. Never had a better FW. Waiting for my new HD.
wmclarenf1
The 2nd generation is the worst of the three IMO. In what sense?
gian11
I own and still have it a 2nd gen model paired with fw80. I remember keep topping the ball before and this is the reason why i switch to ryoma F3. Do you guys think putting in a heavier shaft might eliminate that fault? EdGolf
I tried with a heavier shaft and it didn't work for me. Eventually change to a Ryoma F3 too.... But some of my friends that tried it absolutely LOVES it....
xerobound
I like the HD for the flatter trajectory it produces compared to the original. I like the deeper face design especially off the fairway, it seems to help me get a lower spin and more run.

But some of my friends that tried it absolutely LOVES it.... I use a 70g shaft with a d6 swingweight and it works perfectly fine for me. Prolly a bit high layunching no hardly top the ball. MoreBeerBetterGolf
In what sense? The unnecessarily shallow face in particular. The first and third gen versions are plenty easy to hit off the deck but much less frightening off the tee or fluffier grass.
FrankThong
Honestly, I think the Egg 2nd-gen is all a case of getting use to. I remember my first few hits, it sounded like someone was swinging something at me while I was trying to hit the ball! That swooshy sound on the downswing was really strange. The only thing that I was not so hot about was the too-low profile, which the HD corrected. Otherwise, I'd still be happily using the 2nd-gen.
