Onoff Forged iron comparison 09 vs11

Greetings all,

Sorry if this one has been hashed out before, I just can't find much info. I've been giving a serious eyeball to the Onoff Forged 11 model as well as the 09 Forged + model. I've read some reviews here about the '11 version and it seems they've been pretty well received. I've also dug up the review the Gocchin did in 2010 that included the '09 model.

While they're both good reviews, I was wondering if anyone who's tried both could comment if there's any discernible difference in performance or if it's mostly about ascetics?

While I haven't any experience with either, I have done exhaustive research on both models. From what I understand the 09 is a bit smaller and more "playeresque" than the 11. I think the 11 is perhaps a more "automatic" iron in that it has a larger sweet spot due to it's somewhat larger profile. Both are supposed to have tremendously soft feel and ease of use. They both use almost identical technology to lower the CG, the 09 uses more tungsten than the 11 but not at the expense of raising the CG.

From what I have learned and read, you could probably make your decision based solely on which iron appeals to you more aesthetically and not see a ton of playability difference either way. If splitting hairs it appears to me the 11 may be a tick more forgiving while the 09 might be a little more compact. Hope this helps.

The 09 was a superbly designed and rather soft. I liked it a lot, forgiving, good distance.

The 11 were even softer and they overhauled the looks and improved the trajectory and spin.

Biggest difference, 09 forged in China. 11 forged at Endo and one of the softest irons ever.

While I have not try the 11, the 09 forged did not feel soft to me. It actually felt harsh and a bit disappointing.
