Mjr. D
I can't use 1050's or anything like that but from Monacos, Modus 3, Super Peening Blues, AeroTechs, Program 130s, KBS C-Tapers, shafts along those lines... which do you guys think would be the best bet to use with the Personals to preserve or even enhance the feel of them? Thanks!

Mjr. D
Ya? How come?
chiromikey
monacos will be the consensus around here but i say c-tapers. with the traditional lofts of the personals the low trajectory c-taper will suit well. and the c-tapers won't hide or accentuate any feedback...you'll just feel the purity of everything the head has to offer. they work in everything i've put them in so i'd bet the personals would be no different! DaleUK
I'd say Modus3's...
RIduffer
I have tried the Aero, C Taper, and Modus 3, as well as the SP Blue. On trajectory alone I give it to the Blues. For a blade the Personals are easy launch, that combined with higher SS and height is a challenging combo for wind. Plus the blues are underrated for feel. idrive
My Personals came with Modus 3's. Felt great, didn't perform.... don't know why, they just weren't "it" Put the Monaco's in and wow. I know shafts make a difference but the difference in this case was night and day. FWIW, I have Modus 3's in my AF302's and AFTour/302 combo set, love 'em.

Baddmnkey
Currently have the Personals w/ Aerotechs but have a set of Monacos if the aerotechs doesnt workout. Ive hit them on the range, however it was off of artificial mats and I dont really consider it an honest test. I need real golf course / turf testing which I wont be able to do until February unfortunately. With that being said, the aerotech i95 / personal set up was very nice, smooth soft feel with a nice mid trajectory. I agree w/ iDrive about the 302/Modus3 set up, it was a great match. swisstrader
I bought the Personals with the Monacos in them and with a weight that I had no business swinging (95 vs 125). Even with a MUCH heavier shaft, the Monacos performed almost flawlessly....that's gotta tell you something.
supo
mjD .monacco are the shaft i prefer. thet are better than the NS protos i have had in them the c-tapers for ur swing speed will be a MUST consider. as wil the Sp blues. ive FINALLY................. found what the c-tapers are all about., inm y callway ENDO heads these are MY links irons now. left em in sdyney c-tapers are fabulous and im only playing them in stiff
Mjr. D
I absolutely love my Modus 3's in my Onoff Forged irons and the monacos in my mizunos seem very good as well. With that being said, the Nippon Super Peening Blues are possibly my all-time favorite shaft. The Matrix Program 130s are kind of blah feeling and launch too high - have them in my 302s. I've never tried Aerotechs or C-Taper. I want whatever shaft makes the personals feel best. Are the C-Tapers a good enough feeling shaft, worthy of putting in, arguably, the nicest feeling irons of all time (personals) or should I go Aerotech or something graphite? Mjr. D
Really? I've heard that over on Golfwrx but not here... makes sense since they're not jspec. They definitely suit my swing and if the feel is as good as some claim, perhaps i'll have to give them a shot...
supo
as a "new" member of the c-taper apprecitaion squad. i will NOW vouch for thier all round playabiliy and feel. i still think the Ns sp blue are a match and a hlf for feel. the aerotech steel fibers are going in a set of tourtage 701s this week so i can test them out. this week. id think.. adn u gotta remeber u swing much much faster/ harder than all of us here combined. that the c-tapers might be right up ur alley. the monacco in TX will also be there. for handling ur speed. or u might wanto to look at a set of NS proto 2s14. these shafts are fantastic 135 gram superb feel..... superb feel...! spoon might be able to help u here Edited December 25, 2012 by supo67
Craig
To me if the SP Blues are your favorite shaft, start with them. That is what I did with the Personals until finished with the Monacos and for me that is a good match
supo
try these.. price is spot on. shafts are fantastic, shud suit u to a tee. http://golf wrx/foru...bz-max-5-pw-aw/ good seller got some from him previous http://golf wrx/forums/topic/757117-ns-pro-prototype-2-sw-rbz-max-5-pw-aw/ Edited December 25, 2012 by supo67

potuna
You have to figure it out for yourself or go to a good fitter. A bunch here think the Monaco's are great a couple guys I know say they are nothing special. Some like the Modus 3s, I hated them, I had C-tapers and liked them. I'm currently playing super peening orange and Ora protos, it depends on the heads and the player, people can tell you what they like but how that applies to you? MoreBeerBetterGolf
I can see why some people like c tapers for their attributes as far as performance but I just can't handle their feel. I also think they're a relatively demanding shaft as well. They are one of a handful of shafts I've played that seem to make any head I put them in harder to hit consistently. There is apparently something between my swing mechanics and the c taper that just don't jive. I'm a fairly high ss player, nothing like you, but the c taper can be hard to load and hit even with high ss if the loading mechanism in the swing isn't quite right. I transition quick with a mid-fast tempo and late release but I don't have a ton of wrist cock at the top. Even on pure strikes they don't feel good to me. Again it is all subjective to the person but IMO stock with a winner and get the spb or modus tx if you like Nippon feel. Nothing about the c taper is like the Nippon in my mind aside from the shafts are both steel and attach to a club head. I think the c taper also gets a lot of play from people who shouldn't be playing it because they think it makes them look like a badass. Obviously not here so much as you see at wrx. I'd take anything I read over there with a grain of salt.
supo
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yes i can get it up but i cant paste it. go to wrx and type ns pro pototype that shud bring it up

That is what I did with the Personals until finished with the Monacos and for me that is a good match Def try the SPB's if youve played them and liked in the past. SPO/SPB, well most of Nippon shafts in general, offers superb feel compared to most. Ive tried SPO, NS Pro ORA, but decided to try the aerotechs partly due to reduced vibration and a little less wear and tear on my shoulder. If money is no object I heard that the Diamana Thumps are top notch as well. GL and enjoy the journey, its a blast. :)
RIduffer
If you're willing to go graphite, and based on Stew's comments on the Thumps being spinny, I would encourage you to try the Attas Tour shafts...
Mjr. D
So how do the Aerotechs feel compared to the Nippons you mentioned?
