Gottabalata
Hi guys I was wondering if I could get a little help? I am new to the site. I have a set of 08 JDM TM R7 TP forged irons which I love. I like the look and feel of these clubs. I was checking out the site and fell in love with the Epon af302"s and the PRGR id bl. They both look very similar to my TM's. I understand that everything is subjective and there are alot of other factors that go into clubs. I was wondering will either one of those clubs play similar to the R7's. I play to a 12 hdcp. My ball flight is high but dosen't balloon. 6i ss is around 92mph and 182 yards. I know this is probably a pretty stupid question that you've probably answered a few hundred times, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. DaleUK
I've never hit the 302's but I guess if you can strike the ball then with the right shaft these would be playable
MoreBeerBetterGolf
I think you would get along great with either one...Both are quite playable for "players" irons. I have had a couple sets of 302s and they're one of the very best all-around irons on the planet. Take a look at the 2013 OnOff Forged as well. Ian-500
There's a lot of love for Epon/YamahaRomaRo on this forum, and quite rightly so, but I'd like to see more of PRGR so go for the iD BL because, even though I haven't hit them, they look absolutely fantastic. For me I have to be comfortable with the way my irons look and these would give me LOTS of confidence.
Gottabalata
Thanks for the input. I was just taking a look at the ONOFF's. What's up with the jacked up loft's?
MoreBeerBetterGolf
The lofts are jacked because they have a low CG and have tungsten soles. Which is why they're so forgiving. The jacked lofts helps to lower the flight to make it more penetrating.
idrive
PRGR and Epon are my two favorite brands. The 302's rule (IMO) when it comes to the players cavity back.
potuna
For a forgiving cavity back look at Yamaha V forged, Onoff forged and RomaRo Vs not in order, I think that's what your asking for. In regards to jacked lofts I play a 4-pw with 50/54/60 wedge set, no gaps, no problems. This in reality is a modern version of 3-pw with 2 wedges. Gottabalata
Thanks again guys. At least it looks like I am on the right track. I know that I'm going to have to demo some different shaft and head combo's but a least I have a few options.
Baddmnkey
But there lies the problem, trying to find a shop that has demos to try the various models w/ various shafts. Just be patient, do your research and make an informed decision. You cant go wrong with the 3 mentioned above. RIduffer
If you want a low cost of entry ONOFF option, I have some '09 heads for a very fair price… :)
