Spoon
ok guys all this talk of champion drivers and 2013 driver offerings has got me excited. left hoping and yearning though is my 3 wood spot in the bag. i have been going around in circles with my 3 wood. egg, 203, yamaha v14, RC, ryoma f3 etc etc nothing has lasted like my Yamaha inpres #4 wood! SO is there anything new and revolutionary like in driver terms 435, KPX, esque??? the jbeams and crazies dont get the same buzz in woods compared to all the raves in their drivers. i was not impressed with the ryoma f3 one bit. not expecting any quantum leaps like in the driver category but there must be something coming out in 2013? i am considering the kamui tp07 Fw but no info and no one seems to have tried it. MoreBeerBetterGolf
The one spot in my bag that seems safest is still my Egg. I know they're not for everyone but its been great for me. I too am curious to see if anything new comes out that might give it a run for its money this year. I'd like an egg 5w actually. I've got a 15* - 21* gap in my bag. swisstrader
I went non-JDM (blasphemous I know!) for my 3 wood. Got a TM R11 and it works like a dream. I've tried just about everything including Epons, Egg, etc and the TM was just so much more forgiving than anything else. Now also have the matching 5 wood...both are AUTOMATIC! They also longer or just as long as anything out there.

Spoon
as most now offer a higher lofted 3 wood like 16* this is the way i am going to go. shafted with my default Tour ad shafts. thinking a BB7s in one of the newer heads will be one of my only additions to the 2013 bag. i dont carry any hybrids or other woods aside from the #4. after the #4w its straight to 3iron. hopefully new driving irons will come out as well so i can replace it and add a 19* driving iron ala the srix z utis
tae
Spoon... I have tp07 14* with FE. It's a monster. I know you dont like ryoma fw but I personally like ryoma F2 a lot. Let me know if you have any question about kamui

Let me know if you have any question about kamui hey Tae, your the only person i know who has one! if you dont like it let me know. hopefully its in your garage sale hehe. i even like the shaft. how is the kamui? reason why i did not like the ryoma is the shape was to pancake-y and the feel was somewhat hollow. i like hefty solid compact fairway woods. It looks like mini driver.... haha And I don't like the feel of ryoma either. But as far as forgiveness and distance go, it is second to none... I mean that's what I think. I am currently playing combo of f2 ryoma 13* with royal deco and egg 17* with LY. The other combo is kamui kp 14* with fe and kamui ray 18* with attas 3. Ordering one more combo of george spirits fw 14* with baselius and baldo proto 18* with ngs. I might give up one combo after playing them all. I will let you know. Btw, kp doesn't have that hollow feeling... In fact, it feels like epon driver. Very solid and forgiving!!! And distance???? you heard me, right? It's monster!! I love it. You should go for it. ^^

chiromikey
c, you know i picked up tae's tourstage type t 3w in his first garage sale and i can't recommend it enough. it's the only club i've hit that can keep up with the tm rbz except this actually has a good feel! it's easy to hit off the deck (i never tee it, not even from the box) and easy to work left, right, high or low (or even straight, which is the hardest shot in golf)! Spoon
I will let you know!! By any chance, have you heard anything about katana volito fw and maruman shuttle fw? I am very very curious about them. I had the shuttles before. one of the easiest FWs to hit. but only drawback is its soo shallow. i think its shallower than the egg and epon HT well at least to me visually. these are for slower SS players who want to elevate the ball. i liked them a lot. but am looking for something different. as for the katana, only have expeirence with their drivers

Did you like it? not interested in driver but I am just curious.

wmclarenf1
I'm really surprised of all the hardcores here, only Tae plays the Ryoma FW. Why is it not as in demand as the D1 drivers are?

Why is it not as in demand as the D1 drivers are? i had the ryoma F3. My impressions are that although very very forgiving, the shape did not suit me, it was way too light and the feel felt hollow and dead. i think those with higher SS like say 105 up will feel the same way. my dad who is in the low 90s absolutely swears by it. remember chaps bombers and stronger chaps are not the intended market of the F3 IMHO. same way the hi cor ryomas are not recommended for HIGH ss players as you could potentially crack the thin crown imho. tae
Hey c, Although kp07 does not have hollow feeling, weight of head is pretty light too. But I think you can customize the head weight.

So would you say the target profile of the F3 is similar to the Egg FW which is also very light (lighter than the F3?) Anyone played both the F3 and second gen Egg FW? Which is longer, more forgiving, launches higher, spins more etc? IS one better than the other off the Tee? FW?
