Posted January 14, 201312 yr Has anyone hit both the ONOFF Type S and the Yamaha UTs that could compare the performance, feel, sound, size, etc between them... Thanks
January 14, 201312 yr I hit the new onoff type S, it's got that silver top and flies very stable and low. It was a little difficult for me to hit high. I'm waiting for my yamaha's, they will have steel hybrid shafts installed. I tried the last version of the Yamaha UT and it was almost perfect. I could have used a little more forgiveness.
January 14, 201312 yr Author Have played the ONOFF, RomaRo UT and iBrid, as well as the Epon 902. Am considering an 18* and am a big fan of the i-brie and ONOFFs. I like the compact size and solid feel of them. Curious whether the Yamahas are similarly compact and solid sounding. By compact I mean shallow front to back and short heel to toe..
January 14, 201312 yr I'm waiting to try the new Yamahas, but I can tell you that the OnOff Type S is great from experience. It has a nice soft feel with soft sound too (not too metalic). I like how it can keep a flat trajectory even when I try to jump on it. (I'm not the fastest swinger, about 105mph swing speed, but I'd say it will work for a really fast swing speed player too!)
January 14, 201312 yr Here's a quick pic of my 21* UT The small mark is in fact a Air bubble from the club protection Tape, just in case I Sky this baby!! ( sad I know) Edited January 14, 201312 yr by DaleUK
January 14, 201312 yr Author Dale, Looks like a nice compact head. Is the sound metallic(wood/driver like) or more solid thud dish(iron like)? Thanks for the photo...
January 15, 201312 yr I've hit both, I love the ONOFF as its nice and deep and yes is not loud but almost pop soft... the Yamaha a bit more crisp but also quite solid. The ONOFF sets up well with its two tone top line, and is one of the deepest faces out there for a UT, the Yamaha is not as deep and is longer heel to toe but has the nice fric off sole.
January 16, 201312 yr I have never left the keyboard... just busy with other tasks... keyboards are surgically attached to my hands.... (^_^)
