RIduffer
Crazy 519 Proto or CB50 is my guess....
gocchin
Well at a 30 handicap, he is still very much improving as witnessed by his 125mph swing speed but 280y total distance. As he gets better he should be well over 300. We would need to figure our why he is getting too much spin and why he is slicing. A 3* closed face won't make a difference if he is cutting across the ball from outside to in and has a steep down blow which creates the huge backspin and high launch. As he improves his swing, these numbers will surely improve. At 125mph though I would say the RIP 60 Stiff is way too soft which could cause the head to lag way behind. Crazy 519 75 in X flex is a good start for sure.
Ian-500
Er....your friends handicap is 30?!? Maybe he should slow his swing speed down a bit, as i think he may still slice the ball regardless of what shaft we recommend, or get some lessons, but......maybe try a heavier shaft for more control, like something in the 80g range that's tip medium/soft to help the slice. Or maybe try a shorter shaft, say 44 1/2" that will give him more control. A Diamana ilima in 'X' flex springs to mind. Good luck :)
jaygolf
Thomas, I'd like to know if 125 is his average swing speed or all out swing speed. 125, you mentioned he's built like me, he should be banging them quite a bit further than that, even with a shaft that's not adapted to his swing. That or...not to sound like one of those guys (Ian for example...haha!) he should work on his swing. Just sayin. I'll be back next week, we'll go to the range one evening. wmclarenf1
I know your asking about a shaft Tomcat but no offence to your friend, 125mph and only 165y for the 7I? Heck I get about close to that for my 7I with my paltry swing speed. I think he should look for one COACH first to harness all that power and then ask him to saty away from TM and look at some Kamui's with their harder faces for hgher swing speeds and a good high modulus shaft to match that :-). There.. some shaft advice :-)

swisstrader
Same swing speed as Tiger but 30 handicap?? I say make sure the guy gets his swing speed checked before he spends some cashola. Anytime a buddy says they hit it 300+ or they swing 125 we head to the Trakman and reality sets in very quickly...in ALL cases, the guy who says he hits it 300 is more like 260 and the guy who says 125 is more like 105-110. Not saying your guy hits it 300, but willing to bet he's not at 125MPH and iron numbers confirm that as well.
tomcat
he's just hitting the driver as hard as he can...but he's much smoother on the irons....not sure about the exact distance (and not sure he was measured with a TM) but I saw hiim at the range and he's really powerfull. Anyway I finally conviced him to do a fitting :) I'll let you know
