gocchin Posted January 23, 2013 Report Share Posted January 23, 2013 Baldo has come a long way.... quite a few years ago when we evaluated their products, workmanship and performance were below par but that was not surprising considering the company was tiny and in its infancy. In recent years they have made huge strides and improvements in design, workmanship and most of all performance. They have grown along with a nice sized enthusiast following here in Japan. I love the look of their new TT Prototype clubs... (I wish brands would stop using the word Prototype!!). Baldo shows how they evolved from design on paper, to 3D CAD to actual molds and then unfinished head to finished heads. Here is an example of that process with the new VT511 driver and FW's We have demos coming soon and I can't wait to try them especially since the tout precision forged maraging CUP faces on all their woods! The 8C line has actually been around for a while, this new TT features an all new forged face, so we don't know what it sounds like... yet. But it does look very high tech. I would have assumed it was heavy weight in the driver "exhuast" as you put it Ed, but based on the CG placement it does not seem to be that heavy. I will find out. I've not seen a BALDO driver in person but they don't seem to have that premium look that you get with EPON or J-BEAM. Gocchin have you got and photos to share with us yet? As for this new line, I am still waiting to get the heads to shoot and try. Save for perhaps Epon (since they are Endo's brand), every smaller boutique brand can go through stages of struggle with quality as they get things right, especially in the early stages. I notice many smaller brands have this issue in the very beginning. I remember George Spirits did, TSG had it first then we had some issues with finish & supply. yesterday I received all his new products in hand. OMG has it improved. Baldo today is not Baldo of the past. Jbeam, Crazy, even Yururi and Gold's Facory, they all went through the same similar growing pains. When I say like for like I mean on an iron byron, with the same shaft, playing length, loft and ball etc with the head being the only different variable. Anything else and the results will mean little. It would be good if the same test like what rating-gate (I think that's what its called) did about 2 years back is done for all the latest drivers and shafts. That controlled environment provided a lot of good information about the shafts and heads of the time.
