hairbo,

Easy solution...shed those snowshoes and come on down to NC! Take in Pinehurst, and break out those Srixon Ur-X's on #2! You'll need your sunscreen though, it was 70* + here last Saturday!

Warren , be nice now . :)

Went to Golf Town again today and they just got the URX in today. The guy who was stocking the shelves didn't even know the price. Well, I asked him to check and it's about $45 Cdn.

That's $20 less than the ProV1 and $15 less than the HX Tour. I'll definitely will give it a try when we finally can play here in a month or so.

$45 in TO haribo means about $50 here , still that is a pretty good price .

If they get here before the season starts :)

Now if I like them and I can play them I just might have a new ball to play this year :D

Damn I feel kind of guilty that I got some over christmas for 47.00 for two dozen American dollars. I caught them from golfsmith when they had a code get out. I like the ball. Oh and that included free shipping also. Can't get them for that price now. They are 39.99 a dozen.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. Like the Pro V1 (don't like the X). Got a feeling I gonna love the HX Tour (was a big fan of the old Rule 35, but never tried any of the other Callaway balls) but if the URX is on the same level as these two, I don't have a problem saving myself 15 -20 bucks for the dozen.

I think they are a great ball. I do not use the Pro V1 or V1x so I cannot compare them to it but I think they are a great ball. A little longer than the Maxfli M3 but about the same as the NXT Tour. I really like the NXT tour because of how soft it feels off of the putter. The UR-X feels a little firmere off of the putter but not too hard that I cannot live it. I will know better when I get it out on the course after the courses around here green up and the greens heal from the aerating.

Is there anybody who can give a brief step by step comparison between the Pro V1, Pro V1X, Hx Tour and URX in therms of driver length, iron length, trajectory and short game playability.

Somehow I got to survive the next month before we can finally play here.

Thanks, haribo

Agreed , for me that would be at least 2 dzn extra balls a year for the amount of games I play in a a year .

And if they don't shred to bad can always use the old ones for the winter months !!

That is my biggest fear of these balls . I can pretty well get 27 holes out of a Pro V1 , then it goes in the shag bag .

If these are even close to that then I can see me making the change .

They don't shred at least for me. With the Pro V1X & ProV, I often have to dig the paint out of the grooves of my wedges.

haribo,

Today, my golf shop gave me a couple of sleeves of Hx Tours to try...afterI purchased a new Callaway ERC Fusion...what a deal!!

Seriously, I will provide a report for you in the next week or so. I have significant playing time with the other balls. My golf shop retailer says the Hx Tour will outperform all of them and he is not a Callaway player!

Later,

Warren

Got to try a URX today used it for 18 holes . Let just say that today this ball did not leave a good impression on me .

Granted the fairways are still damp on the west coast and the greens were not the fastest I have ever played on , but there was something missing when I put on a good swing and made solid contact .

Maybe it is the lack of a click off the driver or irons but I just can't put my finger on what was missing . Plus I found this ball to be a lot softer off the putter face than I expected . I found it softer than a Pro V1 .

I will continue the experiment with this ball down south where I'm sure the warmer weather will give it a little more pop and maybe then the click will be there .

Had to come back to add this . The person who gave me the ball to try also used one . After 14 holes his looked like Swiss Cheese . But he also does the same thing with Pro V1's & X's . So if you put a lot of spin on a ball with your irons , this ball might not be what you are looking for .

haribo , there was a guy in my foursome who was in AZ a couple of weeks ago . He was using the new ball today . It is called a ED 333 . If I'm not mistaken.

The 333 stands for the amount of dimpels as this ball has a odd number of them . For what purpose I have no idea .

Guess, you mean the AD333. That's a 2 piece ball. The prototype ball the Pro's are using, Davies, Jiminez &Co., is not been released yet. Believing the Srixon website it will be released in April.

Too bad the UR-X didn't make a good first impression. Hope you got more luck with it in Vegas.

Yes your right the AD333 . I hope it is better down south as ot will be $49 before taxes out here . While the pro V's are around $70 with taxes . THat would be a savings of around $13 bucks a dzn .

Other than the lack of the right click at impact how did the URX fair otherwise. Distance with driver and irons, trajectory and that kinda stuff.

With the driver was hard to tell . Ball would hit the fairway and stop dead on most of the holes . Irons about the same distance , but right now hard to tell as I think the high today was 12* . Trajectory was actually lower for me than a Pro V1 .

As to spin was kind of hard to tell , I don't believe I spin this ball as much on the short irons and wedge's . As the ball was releasing on me .

Now if this ball will stand up after I get my scratch wedge's and use during the summer , it will have some potential to replace the Pro V1 .

But if I can't get at least 27 holes out of one ball then I would have to say no you will not find it in my bag .

Will be able to tell you more after I come back from Vegas .
