Ian-500
I've just snapped my Diamana kai'li 60 'x' at the range on Tuesday night, so I'm on the look out for a new shaft for my Yamaha. I fancy trying something different, so do any of you know what other shafts are out there with a similar profile to the Kai'li, to be played at 45" or maybe less. I don't mind the price brand new (I'll buy it used anyway!), so fire away with any suggestions for Quadra/Crazy etc. It needs to have a soft feel to it but also keep the left side out of play as much as possible. Here's what I've tried before, but bear in mind that except the top 3 (Cobra Amp Cell Pro), all the others were attached to different heads: Attas3 7x - ball flight too high but great feel. Could go left. GD DI 7x - ball flight a little lower than the Attas but with less feel. Went left on occasion. Diamana + 'D' series x 70 - great ball flight, lower than the 2 above but with even less feel. Struggled to go left. Diamana Kai'li 60 x - Great ball flight with feel on par with the GD DI. Went left on occasion. Crazy TJ46 (6.9 I think?) - Low ball flight with not much feel. Didn't go left. Diamana X 60 s - Good ball flight with feel on par with the + 'D' series. Went left on occasion. Thanks, Ian.
Duffer19
I think the new Diamana B series is similar to the Kai'li. I am tempted to get a new 50+g to compare to my FE 55. I was a bit disappointed with my Attas 4U.
Ian-500
Yeah I've had a look at the new 'B' series. Very nice. Also the GD BB could be good. Decisions decisions. Any other ideas guys?
tomcat
Get the R1 from spoon and throw the head away ;)
Mob
Quadra Fire Express Max WBQ 75, choose your flex. Supposed to be an anti-left shaft with great feel.
MoreBeerBetterGolf
Crazy 519 Proto which is now the Crazy Black Tour 75 I believe. Anti left like CB50 but with better feel and liveliness. Probably hard to find used though.
Ian-500
I sooooo want to try a Quadra or Crazy. MOB/Morebeer, can you compare to any Diamana or GD?
RIduffer
Can't compare like you ask, but will second MBBG's comment. Have the 50 Sigma in my Kasco and the Proto 519 in Epon Technica. Both are marvelous. The Proto is definitely livelier than the 50 but both give a nice mid trajectory flight. Feel is sublime on both as well... You'll like either... Think you'd want it In 7.7.... MoreBeerBetterGolf
It's hard to really put the finger on the difference. There's really nothing like a Crazy shaft that I've tried before. I've had Diamana and GD shafts but never a Quadra yet. But there is a crispy/glassy feeling on pure impact that just feels like you've transferred every iota of energy you created into the ball. They have a lot of pop to them. The Crazy is more brazen and brash and outspoken whereas other high end shafts tend towards the mellow side. They're kinda...well, Crazy! That's really about the best I can describe them relative to others and it really may not be everyone's cup of tea. You really feel like you can go after it if you need to but without a boardy dead feeling.
Ian-500
If there's one club I like to 'go after it' with then it's definitely the driver. Gonna have to give Crazy a try. Are the 80T that much more glassy feeling than the 46T/50T?
DaleUK
I sooooo want to try a Quadra or Crazy. MOB/Morebeer, can you compare to any Diamana or GD? The quadra fire express is a stunning shaft.... In GD I found that the LV2 was about the same Spec but the prototype QFE had the edge... Ian-500
.....the edge in distance, or feel, or dispersion, or ball flight, or all of the above?
DaleUK
.....the edge in distance, or feel, or dispersion, or ball flight, or all of the above? No edge in distance at all...feels is a Hard to say as both shafts had different heads(Epon and Yamaha) Both Shaft where very consistent ,maybe the QFE just looked better but there's something about it I loved!!! ukok
Ian, play with what you know, forget the Crazy's, I still have not found one right for me and have wasted too much coin to try again. Diamana or GD, you cannot go wrong.
