Driver distance and loft on FW

I have a question on whether or not is it possible to get a FW in 10 or 9 degree (driver loft). The reason being, I hit Ryoma Premia or Kamui Ray or Crazy 435ii just about 20 yards further than my FW. Consistency and accuracy wise, I hit the FW much better. So my thoughts are that if I get a FW in 9-10 degree loft, I may hit just about 10-20 yards further than a FW and have the same consistency and accuracy. My FW is Kamui Ray 14degree shaft with Bangvoo 787 in tour X flex at 44 inch. Distance off the tee is about 270 yards.

Unfortunately, I can't answer your specific question as I've never seen or heard of an FW with your desired loft, but I've noticed that your 3W plays at 44". How about you loose an inch or 2 off the butt, and that way you've instantly widened the distance gap between your driver and 3W.

By the way, you have some really great gear! :tsg_smiley_sun:

that kamui fw head doesnt look like it can bend much, looks like the hosel is way too short and even if you can grab it securely you most likely gonna ruin that head trying to bend it that much. you might be able to torch it and even if it survives it not gonna look nice after that either. another thing, doing so would affect face angle as well so you gonna end up with pretty closed face so thats another thing to consider.

I have been down your path and still have a Yonex EZone 13* with a Crazy 50 Sigma Noir at 44" in 8.2 that I use on occasion for tight courses when I haven't been driving well.

Kasco, at least made a 12.5* but I have found nothing lower lofted with a FW head unless you go back to persimmon.

What I have done is shorten my drivers to no longer than 44.5 and tried to find sub 400 cc heads. That has improved my driving and the accuracy thereof as well as given me a few extra yards because I am able to control the head so much better and get the sweet spot more frequently.

The distance gap for me is about 15 yards, but there is something inherently better about nutting a driver than nutting a 3wd. Feel, sound, ball flight for some reason is just better. Psychological I am sure, but...

At the end of the day .5" and ~4* is the equivalent of 10-15 yards of distance, think standard gaps on your irons. So if the COR on your 3 wd is the same as your driver and you are playing .5" length difference that is about right. If however the COR on your driver is higher then you need to improve your driving skills as you are leaving yards in your bag...
