May 29, 201311 yr Author comment_208522 cheers steve..., i thought thats as well ,bec he can play.... but the orange ithink will be too hard as he gets older hes going the EPON 302 heads i did some looking at all NS shafts after a recomendation of SP brown form anothe site. and they see mto be a decent option. then i looked at he specs of the modus 120 and 130 130 i think will be too heavy soon. althougth they aret THE smootheset shafts ever. then i looked at 120 and they go lower which wont work going forward. if anyone has played t he SP bron or red. then let me know the 1050 were another that sprung out 106 gram very stable high flight beautiful feel hard to go past NS shafts really............., . May 29, 201311 yr comment_208524 Agreed on the NS thing, If determined to go S right now, I think better off with a lighter weight shaft, 950 WF maybe. Also, shooting par does not mean strong it means skilled. Only SP I ever played is the Blue but liked it over every other steel I tried. Could also go steel fibre but not sure about who's footing the bill and the size of their purse/willingness to open it...
May 29, 201311 yr comment_208525 Well, your friend's Dad has 4 years on me, but I have 5" in height on him....otherwise, we're pretty similar on swing speed and distances. I'm currently playing Srixon Z-stars, with Nippon 1050's in stiff; it's a great combination. The difference between the stiff and regular did not seem to be that great to me in the 1050's, but in a year or two, Dad might really appreciate the lower weight of the 950GH shaft. I'd go with stiff as he'll probably pick up a bit of swing speed. Hope this helps!

May 29, 201311 yr comment_208554 Stew- Aerotech steelfibers. easier on the old joints. Regular flex, probably 110 weight. Their regular is closer to stiff based on the swing speed charts.
May 29, 201311 yr comment_208557 I currently play the Areotech 110's in a Stiff Flex and find them to be perfect for my aching elbow as the feel like steel shafts without the overly heavy feeling. Definitely a good suggestion.
May 29, 201311 yr comment_208568 If it's fatigue he's worried about then UST recoils are so smooth and easy to hit. I could hit hundreds of balls on the recoils and not fatigue. Of course if he's old school and is still in denial about moving to an R flex then graphite might repulse him but they are very good shafts and they do come in heavier weights.
May 29, 201311 yr comment_208572 soft step (or even ss x 2 for his swing speed) the recoil 125 f4's in the 302's. this combo is money! so good in fact i may put these shafts in my yururis to replace my all time favorite c-tapers.

So far we have gone from he wants a stiff shaft and heavy'ish to R flex with moderate weight to deal with fatigue as he ages... Sounds like a job for either the WF 950 or the Aerotech Player's Spec Ami 99 and both in R flex hard or soft stepping as needed...
May 30, 201311 yr comment_208579 Steve- I agree with you. In the end the Aerotech Players spec is less money than recoils. They Aerotechs work well no question R flex and hard stepping as necessary. If Snedeker and Kuchar play them how can anyone really question it.
May 30, 201311 yr comment_208580 125 will be to heavy in recoil. the aerotechs i know hat u mean and smooth nad not being sore. ive got bot he 110x and 125 s and they are shock abosrbers plus if they are good enough for jack....................................... well enough said..! if he's a strong guy like you say, then the recoils 125's shouldn't be a problem. you can do like i did and order them up directly from ust and get them hand picked to weight in on the lighter end of their parameters. i had mine come in at 120g after trimming. between the recoils and aerotechs each in 125 stiff, i find the recoils easier in every aspect, as well as easier on the hands/joints.
May 30, 201311 yr Author comment_208585 ill give him the recoils or aerotech options. i knwo about aerotechs so thast easy. but eveyone says the recoils are good. ithink the carbon is a good option as long as coin isnt a worry. if it is , tis NS 950s ok ill pass this info along and revert when decision mae thanks chaps.
