Getting rid of rust

Hi, I'm new to the forums. I have questions for the experienced people with raw irons.

I was recently able to get a set of Yururi KM-0107 RAW ( not flat black, but RAW) from a friend of mines working on a tour van in Japan. Since it has NO finish whatsoever it is beginning to show a bit of rust.

My questions are, will rust affect anything or is it more cosmetic? Is it possible for me to remove rust without damaging the irons?

Thanks!

Rust will reduce the spin if it fills the grooves. It can also increase spin a very small amount by being present on the face.

Its cosmetic, also some players like the way the face feels covered with rust. I do.

To get rid of it fill a cup with vinegar and put the head in there for a while, scrub it when it comes out and give it a good coating of some water/rust resistant oil.

DW40 also will work out the rust. Use a toothbrush and work it into the areas that are rusted. Be careful not to cover the entire club as the oil does leave a slight residue and can effect play.

Good info, thanks! I actually like the look of having rust... cause people who don't understand ask how I can possibly play with 50 year old clubs.

Very true!!
