+TourSpecGolfer
I dont change FW's often but sometimes something really good comes out and it deserves a shot at making it into the bag. The new Type-R had a pretty tough challenge against the Ryoma F3 & PRGR Egg II all attached to the same La Bomba FW80 shaft by Crazy. Easily the RomaRo has the better feel and distance vs the F3 & Egg, It clearly sets up better and sounds better yet the only spot it doesn't beat out the other two is in dispersion. Let's talk about that. It's still very stable just doesn't have the same game improvement type laser straight FW attributes as the F3 or Egg. It's still straighter than most. Face is semi deep, I really like that as I can hit it off of the tee where as the other two I would tend to stay away from that due to the shallower faces. Enjoy the pics! I know a bunch of you have these incoming. Excited for your feedback. IMO the Type-R series has been better than expected.
wmclarenf1
Chris, can you give a direct comparison of this to the EGG HD and also a direct comparo of the Type R to the EGG I+ for forgiveness and length off the deck and tee please. +TourSpecGolfer
Chris, can you give a direct comparison of this to the EGG HD and also a direct comparo of the Type R to the EGG I+ for forgiveness and length off the deck and tee please. I never did the EGG I+. One of the few I haven't gotten around to yet. EGG HD yes I had one of those recently, started with a Fubuki Alpha 75 then into the FW80. Feel of the Type-R is so many levels better and it's much easier to elevate the ball as well. I found the HD a little low and unforgiving, this "R" has a face depth that would make me think the same but it gets a higher. Very nice trajectory and easy to hit. It's really no comparison imo. This RomaRo wins hands everywhere except the tee box. I found the HD pretty good off the tee but not from the turf and especially the rough. Blader-X
So now I'm in a dilemma C; RomaRo or S-Yard? Maybe 3 wood in S-Yard and the 5+ in RomaRo?
+TourSpecGolfer
So now I'm in a dilemma C; RomaRo or S-Yard? Maybe 3 wood in S-Yard and the 5+ in RomaRo? For you it should be the RomaRo. The XV is a little shallow, not bad I just know you like a little more depth than that.
+TourSpecGolfer
I've got many rounds in with this one now. It's up there as in top 3 of all time. Type R FW Egg II Ryoma F3 SYD XV excited to try the Egg III coming out soon but don't really see a way it can knock these out the bag. wmclarenf1
I demoed the Type R UT 18 with some Fujikura Hybrid shaft against my Egg 3I+19* Fuji MCI 1 iron shaft at the range. On feel and sound and many would argue looks as well, it smacks the Egg I+ hands down but one overall distance, the slightly weaker lofted I+ was at least on par with the Type R 18. That said, I went with the i-Brids (which I also demoed) as I found that even more solid in feel and forgiveness and distance seemed the same as the Type R and I+. Had a more boring trajectory of all 3 though. And as I play all my clubs slightly shorter in length, the slightly more upright lie of the i-Brids is ok for me. The Type R hybrid is a very solid, forgiving and long club and has all the nice RomaRo styling cues and finish.

JayDM
I have the same dilemma with utilities that I have with wedges..... I love almost every single one I hit, I'm not talking I love it when I first hit it and then a couple of weeks later it's just whatever.... 99.9% of utilities I hit I just enjoy one way or another, or for one purpose or another, they all just seem so easy to hit makes choosing pretty darn difficult... That said, this year's Romaro 18* is very, very good, can't seem to find a negative thing to say about it... at all.... it doesn't love to go right maybe? not like it won't cut either, just takes a touch more adjustment, which REALLY is no big deal, tough to compare it to anything else, as it doesn't seem to play like a utility that's really geared towards the better player or like a super game improvement club, just sits right in the middle and does mostly everything well, and other things VERY well. Want to try the ONOFF utilities, the new EGG i+, and the Jbeam Tir 21*. Knowing how the utility plays, I can't see the Romaro FW's being anything but wonderful.... Off topic here, but I really like the idea of the ONOFF labospec 5 wood, such a super small head is right up my alley, I've always been happy to get the 5 wood out of the bag in favor of a ute, does anyone have info on how the labospec's play vs. other FW's? Miuramaniac
Has anybody else hit the 5-wood? I've got the 3- and 5-wood and, while I like them both, the 5 has a much different sound. A much higher-pitched ting than the 3. They are both long and flight is normal, just don't know why one would sound so different. Same shaft in both, Tour AD MD-7. Hi, Chris Which type-R model you are using? #3 0r 3+ tour version? I'm using Srixon 302 12.5* strong #3 in Fubuki tour S. Its' a solid club but quite demanding. Now I'm getting old and thinking about switching a new #3 can do the same job as 302 but with more ease to give my back a break. My top pick is Type-R tour model but here comes the new egg which is quite a tease. I like the deep face and small head design of PRGR. As for Romaro, I go for the storng loft and Ti club face. If new egg can deliver like type-R tour, I might reconsider. After all its' cheaper and only 15* ( should be easier than 13.5* to handle, if not sacrifice any distance). I'd like to hear your thought. After you've taste that EGG! Thanks!
