chiromikey
i haven't tried the mci's but besides trying nearly every high end steel shaft, i tried the steelfiber i125's last year and recoil protos 125's this year. my goal was to help alleviate some hand/nerve injuries but still get the feel/performance of the c-tapers since those were my favorite shaft and in my gamers. i've found the recoils gave me the low spin performance i need along with all the accuracy and none of the vibration of the c-tapers. the shaft weighting in the recoils was also very similar to the c-tapers so the transition to these was also the easiest. i can safely say that i've achieved my goal with the recoils. keep in mind, by losing vibration, you'll also lose some feedback so in that regard the recoils may feel too soft for some. it's a trade off i needed to take if i wanted to keep playing. for people that like that super soft (but ultra stable) feeling these should be bliss! RIduffer
I can only compare the two in a wedge, but both are very stable shafts with good feel. The Recoil is a 125g X flex and the MCI is a 120g X flex. Very hard to pick one over the other based on my playing time with the MCI. Have the Recoils in a set of TS 909 heads and find them to be extremely accurate shafts. Feel is very good, I do not notice a loss in that area since switching from steel to graphite. I do think, for my swing the Recoils still have a slightly higher ball flight than is my ideal. To date my favorite iron shaft of the graphite variety is the Attas Tour. If you have the SS I would recommend them. The Roddio are very nice shafts too but have not played them enough to compare in the right kind of head. When I played the Roddio they were in a high launching head and they did not alter that behavior. Sorry for the shameless plugs to follow... Believe I have a 110X 4 shaft floating around if you want to try one cheaply. Also have set of the precursor to the Recoil Protos in a mix of 110S hard stepped and tipped and 120X straight up if you want to go that route... +TourSpecGolfer
I have Srixon's & RomaRo's with MCI's & my gamer the GS Mono 3D with Recoil 120 Stiff. The Recoils feel great and fly straight for graphite. Distance is very good compared to steel imo. With steel a smooth swing vs power swing would give me 10yds with Recoils I get it out even more. Not sure how that plays into distance control though. MCI slightly by a hair more accurate. doesn't feel as soft but still feels great. more metallic feel obviously. The heads are different but I'm getting the hunch they don't add much distance as the Recoils. I like the Recoils for feel & dispersion MCI. Blader-X
I haven't hit the Recoils. But, I can add that the MCI's are just the purest, tightest dispersion I've ever experienced. By a wide margin. I'm even changing my wedges over to them (8iron shafts.) As far as feel, much more than the steel I've used. I don't think you could go wrong with either, though. Do you tip trim 8 iron shaft to use in wedge?

Leaning towards the mcis now.
Blader-X
Do you tip trim 8 iron shaft to use in wedge? No straight install, butt trim to length. My builder does it for me and everything he makes me is usually money. His advice to me on most shafts is that tip-trimming takes away from the manufacturer's design of the shaft. In my experience I've found that to be accurate. But everyone has differing opinions so you've got to find what works for you.

Most of what i read, the recoils is higher than aeros.
vanla01
Has anyone put the fujikura mci shafts in the 2013 yamaha tours?
lousifers
New info for Recoil. They'll have 110 F3 (R flex). This will exactly make my set, to use Proto95 F4 in irons and Proto110 F3 in wedges. I believe this way is much better than using 8i shaft in wedges coz it'll give you both heavier weight and softer flex (in wedges). This should end my experiment for shafts of 2013 the Tour. Chanaa
Paired my new MCIs 80gm with onoff forged 2013. A thing of beauty. Launches higher than i want but seems to stop on a dime on the green. Leaking to the right a bit last few rounds but it just the swing i think.
