chiromikey
Find me the jdm equivalent of this old gem! I brought her out for a round today in a fit of nostalgia and good grief is she still the best wedge for my swing ever. I can play any shot from inside 70yds with it, and I mean ANY! I played this wedge for so long and already had her refinished, but as you can see she's just worn out. Besides being worn in to my swing, part of the reason I think I play it so well is that (as you can hopefully see in the pics) it appears to have the slightest bit of onset. So are there any jdm offerings that anyone can think of that might be able to compare to this old classic?
reggie
It's funny you have that pic. I have the 56 degree Brad Faxon model and nothing can beat it as much as I try. I'd love to find a JDM replacement like you because the wedge is a 1997 model and is still solid but almost worn out.
chiromikey
Wow, I may have to look on the bay for one of those just to give it a whirl! I also have the 54* DL III and while it too is solid, I never liked it as much as the Elk. I think part of the reason (as with any wedge I've tried since) may be the lack of onset. supo
well kyoei rafw 07 the model is ... these might be very close not as big a sole but the offset face and larger face seems clsoe to ur one and these spin like a top Edited September 3, 2013 by supo67
chiromikey
I'd love to see those in person! My only single complaint with the 61* Elk was that it would blind me with reflection of the sun more often that you would think, so raw wedges are now an extremely desired trait of mine. Any other wedges come to mind?

JayDM
I should be receiving my Buchi gear very shortly, its been 5 weeks since I've ordered a set of custom blades and 2 wedges.... I think for custom wedges though, Gold's is the king of the hill, I haven't hit the Buchi's yet so I cant compare performance and they may be as good as the GF's, but the GF custom wedges are as good if not better than ANY other wedges I've tried, and I've tried just about everything, he can do ANYTHING you want really, options are limitless, and idk if this would have changed now, but when I ordered them at the end of 2011 I received them in a bit less than a month. JayDM
4-PW MB's, 52* and 58* wedges.
wmclarenf1
Mikey, Have you tried the Crazy Protos? Although the sole grind is very different from your ELK (Crazy have more toe, heel and trailing edge relief), the Crazy's are great and teh 58 can be bent to 60 easy and no problems opening up given the grind and relief.
