Tiptx4
Has anyone hit this club with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 5 R1 shaft. I really thought I would want a Type V but the website say's the Type D is better suited for the average golfer which is what I consider myself. I play to a 4 handi cap swing speed between 85-97 mph, 58 yrs. young as I don't want this to balloon on me but 11.5 seems to be the right loft designed for my swing speed. Slightly close club face might completely eliminate my slice as it will occasionally sneak around twice during a round. Any time I'm left it's straight but a pull around twice a round, everything else straight as I do average 9-10 fairways a rounds. I have heard so many good things about this new Ryoma Maxium drver that makes me feel like I have to have on. So with anyone's help how well does the Type D model suit my game from the Type V. Also how about this shaft is this a good combo with the 11.5 loft HELP. Need some answers quickly before I pull the trigger Edited October 15, 2013 by Tiptx4
Baddmnkey
My own experience is with the Type V model. Type V is very forgiving but not any long then any of the other top jdm brands, for me. I primarily use a 10.5* so I went with a 10.5 type v. It was a mistake, I should have gone w/ a 9.5. Launched too high for, therefore I sold it. Everyone is different so take it for what it's worth.
Tiptx4
Anybody else out there with some helpful advice on this head/shaft combo.
Hutch
I think your swing speed paired with a mid kick soft shaft would be best suited to a 10.5 (mid shaft mid loft). Before you pull the trigger just ask Tario; he will help you make the best choice for you.! He is a great guy, easy to work with and knows his stuff. Craig
From my experience this is one of the longest drivers I have ever hit. However I have yet to see any forgiveness at all with it. To be honest I can barely hit a fairway with it. And that is no exaggeration.

Crazy cb80ls noir, Crazy boron, Crazy ly02, and a GD AD BB. I just couldn't find THE set up with this head.
Hutch
I personally haven't tried this driver so cant comment..! But there is a wealth of Quality JDM drivers and shafts out there; so making the right decision is paramount. Like I said you must contact T with your details and preferences before you pull the trigger, this is key to feeling like you have made the right decision no matter what the set up is. Good luck with what ever you go with and enjoy your new stick :) Keep us posted Edited October 15, 2013 by hutchy
lousifers
Hi Tiptx4, I gamed Type-V+TourAD DI-5 R1 for short time. My HS is about 90MPH, and couldn't launch this thing to optimum angle....lost quite distance. Not sure it's from the head or shaft but a few days after I got the TRPX head; then, I posted V-DI combo on BST. Maxima may suit you, but for me TRPX is super forgiving. Hutch
Ah yeh....that shaft; R1 right, not to soft..! I have one of those and might be good for a senior looking for some help, what do you think mark?
lousifers
I think I now know why u upset. Just talked to my friend who grew up in US. He said "too bad" can mean "it's ya problem", but that's not what I meant. I meant to say "sorry the shaft didn't work for u". I really couldn't launch that combo so I didn't think the di R1 is whippy. My HS is 90 Hope we're good now Mark
Hutch
Too easy, I thought it was a bit out of the ordinary for you to make a comment like that mark, we have always had good communications. Like I said the shaft was V good condition but just wasn't for me as was v soft. You probably couldn't launch because the shaft had already gone through its action before hitting the ball, that would explain perfectly your loss of hight and distance. It might be perfect for one of the girls at my club :) Edited October 15, 2013 by hutchy

Tiptx4
I wish I would have never found this site as the madness has got to stop.......Lol. I bought my 1st JDM driver about 2 weeks ago and was pretty impressed with it. I was so excited to see what all the buzz was about with JDM equipment. I purchased a Honma TW 717 10.5 with a TA55 Vizard shaft, nothing as exotic as what most people here have but it was a start. I started reading all these forums as I could not help it but I become more interested in the Ryoma Maxima Type V driver. I'm so new to all of his that even in my post I called it the Maxium....Wow what a newbie! I came close to pulling the trigger on one but like the thread stated 11.5 with a GD AD DI R1. Well if I'm going to jump into this I had to go with the help of an expert like Tairo from TSG. I have a Ryoma Maxima Type V 10.5 with a Crazy 6.2 flex TJ-46 Noir driver arriving sometime in 2 weeks. I'm now thinking about selling my 2 other OEM drivers and just use my Honma as a back up driver when the weather is bad out. The sad thing is that here where I live the golf season is almost over with but Wow! do I now have something to be very excited about for the 2014 season. I need to get off here now before I start thinking about some cool looking irons. Actually I love this forum.
Hutch
Gday T Thats awesome man, glad you took my advice and got T to set you up, he is a freak (in a good way of course :)) he just has the insight in to what works for individuals given a little information, no mean feat fitting someone when you cant see there head..! Your latest and greatest sounds real good, I play the TJ and I have never found a better shaft for me (also chosen by T) I recommend you just don't get trigger happy in the next couple of months or you might kick yourself when all the 2014 gear hits, like you said its the closed season for you so not a worry right! So this is a great time for you to work out what brands you might be interested in come spring; then look out you will be chomping at the bit :) This is a great community man and v glad you feel at home, it will also make you want to go to many golf destinations so you can post your pics and experiences; how cool is that more golf, more places, more golf buddys, enjoy the journey and welcome aboard mate.
