Shankopotamus
The description says it has a "slightly open face angle". Does anyone know what the exact face angle is? Does slightly mean 0.5* open of more like 1.5* open? The black looks way, way cooler, but I certainly don't need a super open face angle. I loved the feel on these but struggled with consistency, a little to deep for me. If you can give up a little in feel the Egg by PRGR and the Ryoma's are better for your score probably. Confidence is important and those 2 woods inspire you to believe more than others.
Shankopotamus
My impression from the descriptions that I've read is that the primary difference between the satin and ip black versions were the square vs slightly open face angle. Is the IP black version also deeper than the satin, or is the satin the same face height?
tokidoki1986
Shank, wouldn't you interesting in Egg and the XV. As for my self the Romaro iron is outstanding but nothing special for Driver and Fw.
stevopagolf
I like Romaro's FW and Utilities. The Ti Cup face performs very well. I like the utilities better than the FW, but the FW is excellent as well. I played the Egg before and the scooped out back finally got to me and overcame the forgiveness, though it is great as a ball retriever :) I am interested in the XV user experiences..... actiona
I like the Type R 13.5 FW off the tee and fairway. I bought two, both with Crazy FW shafts. Did not like the Egg. l like the type r utility also with Crazy or Graphite Design UT
stevopagolf
My Romaro UT has the Graphite Design Tour AD UT shaft. Great combo
akapur
My Romaro UT has the Graphite Design Tour AD UT shaft. Great combo Steve The Romaro UT is firmly in my bag as well. The tour AD shaft is an excellent UT shaft.
Shankopotamus
Steve, Akapur, and anyone else who owns one, what romaro loft ute do you play? I'm most likely will go with the 21*, but am teetering back and forth on whether I should get the 18* fw or ute. I just need a gap filler, but also whichever is easier to get up. What you guys think? stevopagolf
I have 3 Romaro UTes. I play the 18 and 21 right now and have a 24 in reserve (basically replaces a 4 Iron) 21 is very versatile. The 18 frankly I can kill off the tee. Can hit a mid traj runner off the tee like 230 yds.... I am considering tinkering, buying Spoon's XV 18* 5 wood which at 42.5 inches is like a 4 wood. Going D, 18 XV, 21 and 24 Romaro....but probably end up sticking with what I have....
Shankopotamus
I'm glad it launches well from the tee box, but does that 18* ute get up easy from tight lies? I probably don't swing as hard as you, so I don't expect to get 230, even off the tee. I'll be installing a gd ut65.
Tim James
Conditions that I play in are tight and fast and the Romaro UT 18* is just fine of tight lies. I can spank the lights out on and off the tee 225 yards with boring flight with some run out. I have a Nuncuk shaft installed...maybe you should try the 21* first. stevopagolf
Shank- I find it really versatile. I can hit it high or lower depending on ball position. Off the tee, I play it slightly back and hit a draw that runs out. I have a GD UT 85 in it. I play Aerotech 95's in my irons so I wanted a similar weight shaft. Depends what you want the club to replace 5wd or driving iron (2?) I would go 18. 3-4 iron I would go 21*, you can play it a little longer to make it a 3+ iron... My SS is 95-105. When loose and in warm weather.
akapur
I find that this is a great UT. The one is my bag is 18 Degree. Off the tee I can drive it 220+ yards. It is most useful to me off the ground. Great for approach shots on long par 4's or short par 5's. Many times when trouble is around on long approach shots I use this club for a straight shot that keeps trouble at bay. Cant say enough good things about it. +TourSpecGolfer
The Romaro Ray UT is good, but the Type-R is really good. Is that the one you guys are all talking or is it the original? I find the Type-R easier to hit off of different lies.
stevopagolf
I think I have one of each. The 18 and 24 are the original I think and the 21 the type R. I would have to check the bag but it is -15 in the garage....
akapur
Chris I have had both the Romaro Ut and R type in 18 degree this year. Kept the New R type because it is a little more forgiving and longer. The new R type is much easier to hit from the ground and produces a much straighter ball flight. I found with the older UT that when I really went at it I would turn the ball over and produce a hard draw. This is much harder to do with the R type so it gives me the freedom to attack the ball as hard as I see fit.
