+TourSpecGolfer
The Fourteen GeLong D 214 Driver. Tatsuro (xerobound) had a comparo session several weeks ago with this driver in its stock form, although not for him he did say it did hold it's own. Here are some pics from the Japan Golf Fair and a little bit more info. The GeLong D 214 is avialable custom length from TSG you can get it 45.75" - 47.75". I consider it a high MOI @4000 design. One of the reasons why this club is known for it's distance is likely due to the stock shaft which has a very long length and that does translate into more carry. It can be built to appeal to the better player though, I know a club tester who has an X flex Tour AD GT-7 with it at 45.5" @ 9* and gets a launch angle of 10* with a good 15 yards of roll. It's a good looking head while looking down at, seems a little closed at 10.5 although I didn't hold the 9* head which I would guess is square. At it's longest length it comes in at a whopping D7/D8 swing weight if you have the 60g version stock shaft on it. There is also a super light weight shaft and higher lofts for the slower swinger. I'm talking 11.5* 45g shaft with 6.0tq 6-4ti cup face with BF-11 Ti crown it's a 4 piece full Ti head that;s 450cc's in size.
xerobound
I'll be interested in having more sessions with this head in a shorter shaft. Although, the long shaft does make it a very fun driver to take to the range. The D7/D8 swing weight on the stock shaft is interesting, it felt like the driver swings itself on the way down! Have a few clients getting their shipments in this week. I'm excited to hear what they think.
