Tiptx4
Ok now that PRGR has the new HD model at 14.5* coming out I'm curious as to stick with my order for the S-Yard XV 3 wood or go with the NEW PRGR. I've heard so many good things about both well except for S-Yard as a company isn't doing so good financially. We might if not already have seen the last of their products. Gosh I sure hope not. The new HD sound like it might surpass the original models which were consider the King of fairway woods. I would swap out the stock shaft on the PRGR as I'm considering the Tour AD BB 6 as I would not want to go stiff as SR flex yes would be ok for my 92 mph swing. Any suggestion on a shaft perference would be very helpful too. I know the looks of the PRGR would not bother me as I used to play a club Cleveland made which was very similar a few years back. The shaft on the S-Yard is ok. Sure the New HD EGG might be longer but which would be more forgiving, easy to hit as the price will be different but still reasonable. I'm looking at a 3 wood that will end all my searches for the ultimate 3 wood I can use of the Tee on and on shorter par 4's and off the fairway for my 2nd shot on the narrow fairways on par 5's. I'm usually good for 225 - 235 sometimes a bit farther off the Tee with a 3 wood and 220-230 usually of the fairway. Not as consistent as I would like to be off the fairway as I am off the Tee. I still have 5 weeks till I can get out on the golf course as it has been a very hard winter so the wait for the PRGR wouldn't matter as I just need to decide on something soon. I would like to hear some opinions on why you would get one or the other as this may be my last JDM equipment purchase for the year and I want to make it a good one. Help!!!!!!! freehb04
The prgr might be a better fit, it really boils down to personal taste. That said, I assume your 92mph ss is for driver. Those distances are pretty good for your ss really so performance wise I think it would be tough to beat what you already have. That said we all just want to hit something different now and again. If you're searching for a value performer prolly go with the egg, I've found their fairways very easy to hit off the deck. If you're searching for your grail 3w/5w take a look at what epon is releasing. Even getting a used 202 is worth doing. I love how the egg performs (I was able to achieve solid distance with a punchy, controllable swing). That said, the feel and sound of the egg just isn't my bag baby. I've tried them all with great shafts and nothing beats the feel and sound of the 202. It's just damn addicting to hit.
idrive
I think you're behind a model with the Egg. There is a new release that has replaced the HD as the "newest model" Having said that the HD is excellent. The new Egg is even better. Because I use a 3 wood primarily off the deck I would throw my vote to the "newest model" Egg.
Tiptx4
What seriously? A newer model besides the HD. I'm tired of trying to keep up as I don't feel like I could go wrong with either. I know that many who bought the EGG swapped out the stock shaft. I hear more good things about the S-Yard stock shaft. So by the time I find my shaft for the EGG it will be $300 more than I care to spend. Nothing against the EGG as I'm sure it is worth it it's just I'm on a budget. The snow is soon to leave and I need to plan for my golf vacation now.

Eggs easier to hit off the deck. The XV longer from the tee and has great feel. Stock shaft in all three not great. Found New egg with a stiffer heavy shaft is probably best all around FW. Craig
Both are good choices. After trying all my favourite FW shafts in the latest Egg, I have put the stock shaft back in it, and it shall stay there. In my opinion the stock shaft in both these clubs are both excellent matches, and perform very well.
gocchin
They are very different but as everyone says here both very good. It may come down to your personal preference and what you like to look down at as well as feel and sound at impact.
driverhead
I am a big time EGG fan. I have all versions going back to the originals. I didnt think anything could compete wiith them) That said the new GLORIE 3w is ungodly good. As easy to hit as any fw thats ever been made, (WITHOUT PERFORMANCE DROPOFFS) and you can adjust the loft from 13.5 to 16.5 degrees (13 to 17 if you get a tour SLDR SLEEVE) . I hit the stock shaft just fine but put a speeder 661 in there and its off the charts a great combo for me. I'm hitting it so well I don't know what shaft to put in that could possibly be any better. Almost afraid to even experiment. I am a big time EGG fan. I have all versions going back to the originals. I must admit the Gloire 3fw is excellent but I think I'm liking the Egg better as it seems to be just slightly easier (for me) to launch off the deck. I put a Diamana B in mine (Gloire) and that seems to be a good fit as well.
supo
no need to experiment with the new stock shaft.. in the egg..... none what so ever... i hit the m-43 and it was perfect for me.i ended up getitNG A m-40 bec i needed it in a hurry nad it was lightyl too whippy so i pulled it and put a rediculous shaft in it but really therres ABSOLUTELY no need. get the right flex and ur away. def go the new one for a tee shot over the previous models. but off the deck the slightly sleeeker older models might be a good bet. as for the s-yard. well thats a beauty as well. Iwont split them in better terms as ive got both and i think both are excellent right now my fw in bag are the egg 3w and the syard 5w. id take a look at what u like to look at at address . bec. both are excellent
tokidoki1986
I've never try the new Egg but I've the previous model and the original, for ne I think Egg is a distance FW but not for the look at the address and the feeling. While XV which is what I gaming now is not as long as Egg in distance but it's look amazing at the address and the feeling is very solid. So after all it's depend on your preference and what're you looking for.
RLL33
Sorry I can't tell you anything about the Egg, but the XV is a dark and nasty weapon, gorgeous to look at, even better to feel. I had a 3-wood in my bag for six years that nothing could replace -- until I hit the XV. Now I have dreams at night about shots I hit with the XV during the day. Tiptx4
Well after discovering how the S-Yard company is going thru some major changes the time frame for me in getting one delivered was not feasible. My choice has shifted over to the newest PRGR Egg Spoon with Tour AD MT SR shaft. I know going with either one was going to be a very good choice so thanks to everyone who gave me some good insight on this matter. Tiptx4
Yes the GD MT6 works well with my PRGR EGG HD 14.5*. Nice low flight with a slight draw as this could be my mini driver. I have no regrets getting this over the S-Yard XV but still like the response everyone had about the S-Yard so I ended up buying a 5W XV and it's a beauty. Both are by fair the best fairway woods that I have ever hit or owned. Thanks TSG
Calvin
Due to my injury, I have not try my last Christmas gift, XV 3 wood, until last weekend. Oh boy, believe it or not, it was a great disappointment for me. The distance was surprising short and the feel was average. Only the forgivness earned itself a thumb up. The result took me by surprise, a big one. Maybe only couple of days of test drive is not fair to XV, so I will give it a few more weeks to try before I get rid of it. Thank God! I did not put my own money on this.
Tiptx4
Well I had to get something from S-Yard so I picked up a 5W which is straight and long. I can see going for those par 5's when trouble surrounds the green. Higher flight and softer landings. My PRGR will be demoted to my 2nd shot off the fairway when there is no trouble surrounding the green. My new mass weapon of destruction is now a Ryoma D-1 F2, using this as my mini driver
Tiptx4
Well after being very impressed with PRGR EGG HD 14.5 as it was longer than my Ryoma D-1 F2 but harder to hit off the fairway. I think maybe because of the light head weight. It was not as forgiving as my F2. I really thought I would get more distance out of my F2 with it being a 13* as it was very forgiving easy to hit off the fairway but it would go too high off the Tee. It has the Crazy Royal Athlete Dec. shaft as maybe that is why. I'm now very anxious in trying the S-Yard XV 3 wood as I have the 5 wood and absolutely bomb it off the Tee. I got as much as 245 yds. off the Tee on a calm day pretty flat fairway. Easy to hit off the fairway and it's straight as an arrow. I've even put the pressure on my F2 when hitting off the fairway. I find myself using it more on par 5's. 2 week wait for the XV 3 wood. My last 3 wood that I will experiment with for the season and it may be my last. All 3 are good it's just I've never had a 5 wood I hit as welll as I do with the S-Yard XV.
sbeaz
I've got to chime in with the rest. I tried the Ryoma and the S-Yard, Yamaha, Onoff TS358 and others, but the egg HD wore them out.
