gocchin
Okay guys, finally its time to pre order the Maxima Special Tuning and new Utility. Its looking like mid to late April, mid for the U and late for the Special Tuning.I've already got the utility up in the shop here:http://www.tourspecgolf.com/ryoma-u-utilitySpecial Tuning will follow tomorrow. Ryoma is claiming a 20-30y distance increase over drivers from other brands. Its not only a non conforming face on the Special Tuning but Ryoma also worked the design a bit to improve feel and decrease overall spin. This time all 3 models are available in Special Tuning, the D, V and G. As I explained with the conforming Maxima, all 3 heads are the same but with the differences being the face angle, finish and shaft (if you go stock shaft). So the prices do vary slightly.ie 1295.00 (1140.00) for the D and 1335.00 (1180.00) V and 1450.00 (1180.00) for G thanks to it's high modulus shaft. All models, utility and special tuning drivers will also be available as heads only (price in parentheses above) or custom made with any shaft through TSG.Any questions feel free to ask away here! +TourSpecGolfer
Overall spin reduction +20yds hmm.. I think this time I'm going with Type D 9.5 with the stock stiff shaft over my usual Type V with an aftermarket shaft. I didn't realize this but the stock Maxima shaft really melds well with the head. If it doesn't work of course a TRPX messenger is in it's future. +TourSpecGolfer
I don't think any driver will provide +20yds but even 5-10 over the already uber long Maxima and I'll be one happy camper.

gocchin
Ryoma's tests are always average distance based on several golfers. The reason why overall average distance can be 20y longer is because Ryoma is straighter.

gocchin
That's right Ash, 240y and in the center of the fairway is longer than 255y slice and in the deep woods 40y offline!

shintajay
Just a quick review on the ST Ryoma. I previously had the ST D-1 original and really liked it. It was longer than anything I hit previously and it was very forgiving. People constantly told me it was a magic club. I would get a 20+ yards more than my R7. The sad thing is one day it was acting very funny. Even though I would flush the ball would die like a dead duck. Found that I had cracked the head. Now my head speed is only 84-6. So I did not even consider that. Sent it back for replacement but the ST was no longer being made so they sent me a regular D1 (which is good too, but I had already purchased one for legal play). When I saw that the new Ryoma was again doing the ST, I jumped at it. This time I did not upgrade the shaft, instead went with the G model with the better shaft. It arrived last week. Had two rounds with it. I can say it is more forgiving than the original ST and just as long. I have decided to purchase another ST just in case. Great combination for my swing speed. mpbachman
So, after some time with the Ryoma Utility, I have to say it is AWESOME. It seems to have better feedback/feel than the Maxima, is obviously extremely forgiving and easy to launch (off the deck or tee). Some minor cons are that it is a fairly higher-launching hybrid and on the larger profile side but the distance/forgiveness is amazing! I have it with shafted with the NSPro hybrid shaft and it seems to work very well. Ball lands softly on the green.
