RomaRo 2014 Chapter 2 Driving Iron

Recommended Posts

Not many driving irons have a forged cup face, this is the same face used in their Type-R utility wood.

It's a little more hybrid than most driving irons with this type of face. I've Been itch'ing for driving irons lately in my own bag, I'm in anticipation of the RomaRo Chapter 2 but in the meantime a Honma TW has being doing excellent.

Had a chance to hit the Epon 903 in Japan, its excellent but I need more forgiveness ala AF901 The Royal Collection still needs to be unboxed but looks promising as well.

That's one direction, the other is Ryoma U's which I have also hit at a demo day and they are incredibly consistently long & forgiving.

I am anxiously awaiting the release of the new iBrid. Am hoping they get a more "solid" sound/feel in this Chapter 2 iteration. The only reason I prefer the ONOFF Type S to the older iBrid is the dense feeling off the face. Otherwise I prefer the compactness of the iBrid.

Also curious about the cutout in the sole. Is that like the tungsten rubber thing Labo did in the TS358 or the hotness concept in the Adams?

This is the new iBrid, It's a driving iron. There will be a new Hybrid Utility way down but really the Type-R is hard to beat.

So you may not like this if you want more iron like. I think RomaRo experimenting by putting the forged cup face on a driving iron is pretty ballsy and should pay off.

Did you try the Type-R UT?

Yes, it is the new iBrid, just not available for purchase yet, to the best of my knowledge. Generally available is what I meant by release, I do not get advance trials of clubs...

I love the old iBrid, but it can be a tad hollow feeling at times. Tried the predecessor to the Type R and found it too easy to hook, also even hollower feel/sound to me. The ONOFF Type S, also sets up ironlike but feels denser to the iBrid, hence the feel preference.

Had there been a preorder for the Chapter 2 I would have been already put my order in...

After seeing Chris's post about the Type R and the Ray H irons in the Pro Shop, I decided to check out the RomaRo website. Was disappointed to find out that the Chapter 2 was not in their 2014 web catalog.

Is the Chapter 2 still targeted for this year or are they gonna delay till next?

they are barely landing this week, it's gonna be some time.

Mine is in the air, a handful of TSG'ers have theirs on the way.

Then it's gotta be hit and outside of the honeymoon period the better.
