Honma TW717P Forged Irons - Most Forgiving in the TW Series

Recommended Posts

The Honma TW717P is Honma's most forgiving iron in the Tour World Series. It's forged like the other irons in the TW line but this one has a 2 piece structure featuring a CNC milled pocket cavity and a Maraging stainless steel face. The 717P is the best selling of the TW irons.

I was only able to get ahold of the #4 iron and on paper it says the long irons have the most offset. looking down at the #4 the offset is still pretty minimal.

There are some variants of this club, you may have seen them with a gold inner cavity & black badge, these are all options but for me this Double-layer plating / Satin finish goes best with silver for a more simple and clean image.

Enjoy the pics, I have one final TW post lined up where I will highlight everything all together. It's a pretty solid offering when you look at the Tour World Series as a whole.

The strong loft setting remind me the Quelot RE12 forged iron, an under radar but pretty darn good looking club. If I put these two for a comparison, what is your call? One is cavity and one is blade. one is soft steel and one is maraging. They both come with a clean, simple, and sleek design. To be honest, I did not play neither of these. I wonder, in performancewise, this would be a fair contest.

Honma did a great job with the new TW line up. All look stunning!

Although, totally different designs, I think this and the RE12 Forged is geared towards the same audience. Which is pretty wide range -from scratch players to the ave Joe.

In terms of feel, the RE12 has a softer feel, but the 717P has an edge in overall forgiveness. It much more consistent on miss hits. Both good clubs, I'd say the only reason to go for the RE12 Forged over the 717P is if you absolutely must have that thinner profile appearance.

Wow on the address point of view look very compact, didn't look as big as I thought it would be.

Looks like the 717P has the upper hand here but is the Quelot that far off ? Maybe it's because the muscle back, cosmetically, I'm more fond of Quelot. Just like two doors coupe always looks better than four doors sedan. Well, this is just personal view point!
