Posted August 7, 201410 yr Modart MWC A55-G Wedge For some reason when I first saw these I thought they were bigger, then mine came in and they are small. CNC'd from a block of carbon steel, the feel is an unbelievable dense soft. Lofts: 48/50/52/54/56/58/60/62 Because these are fully CNC'd they run just north of $600 per wedge.
August 7, 201410 yr Chris, any comparison to the custom wedges you have gamed (feel, grind, etc) to the Suda-san custom wedges?
August 7, 201410 yr Author Chris, any comparison to the custom wedges you have gamed (feel, grind, etc) to the Suda-san custom wedges? That's a good question, naturally I wanted to compare them against each other right away. A55G is really easy to hit, rounded and smooth that just goes through turf like nothing. "slide through" the feel is very different than the Suda-wedges, the Suda's are what most of us are used to, nice pure form forged feel, precision, more aggressive looking while the A55G is soft and dense like a firmer mizuno but different. While the feel is different the performance is somewhat like the grind on the Buchi global wedges that also glide/slide through turf making them very user friendly. This is just a really stunning wedge that I wasn't expecting. Even the matching iron set feels and performs like the wedge. Comparing them to the most compact CBC model modart irons these feel different more spongy than firm.
August 7, 201410 yr Good Lord those are beautiful! Is that a hint if onset I see or just the camera angles?
August 8, 201410 yr Well its about damn time! LOL! I've been waiting on you all to show this wedge, since forever!!!!! I'm surprised no one has asked, "Hey Chris/Tario, can they CNC custom designs in my wedge?" LOL! Seriously though, imagine the possibilities.
August 8, 201410 yr Am intending to do a review on these sorts of things. Hopefully Chris doesnt steal my thunder, but perhaps you guys should wait and read it Got problems with my home computer at the moment, and have had for a couple of weeks so havent been able to post
August 8, 201410 yr Any chance you could convince them to go the last 2-degrees to 64...? if that happens i will get one.
August 8, 201410 yr Heck, why not, a 64 fits my wedge gap and I have never tried one before. Might as well throw my hat in the ring, will get one as well if they are willing to go there :) Edited August 8, 201410 yr by mpbachman
August 8, 201410 yr It's amazing from a technical and aesthetic standpoint what they've done with this wedge. Still like the the Suda better as they just look so versatile, anyone know from experience if they both perform similar? A 64 is a weapon of mass finesse around the greens, have always enjoyed using my mizzy, but if they did this is a 64, that might have to be the one to bag!!
August 8, 201410 yr Ready for ordering>>> http://www.tourspecgolf.com/modart-mwc-a55-g-wedge With a price tag like this, I might frame and keep on the wall. lol
