Posted January 4, 201510 yr I'm going to try my hand with a mallet putter in 2015. I'm tying to decide between the Ryoma m3 or Romaro garnet. Can anyone offer any feedback regarding either of these? The Romaro is GSS, and I've putted with a couple of those before so I can at least guess how it would feel. But what does this "special alloy" from Ryoma feel like? Similar to any other popular putter? The Ryoma seems to be in the top 5 putter at TSG store, so i hope it won't be hard to get feedback. Thanks, gents.
January 5, 201510 yr I would suggest to skip both, the Ryoma is forgiving and straight across most of the face which is nice, it's also light weight which helps for super fast greens imo but it lacks feel and heft if thats what you are after in a putter. GSS = nothing. SUS303 from Japan is the same as GSS when we sent it into a metallurgy lab. I think putting together a golds mallet or getting a modart mallet, or upgrading a mallet you already like by GF are all stellar options.
January 6, 201510 yr Author Thanks for replying, Chris. I probably won't go the GF route just b/c I hate to wait for mods on clubs. I checked out the Modart R50, which looks pretty cool. Very cool and unique twist on the traditional anser design. Maybe the best interpretation Ive seen in a long while. I don't see a Modart mallet in the shop though. Also, how much firmer is s25c than s20c? I'm wondering b/c I'd like to get a sense of feel with the Modart over Epon's i33. Thanks.
