JBEAM BM-435 Black vs Modart MA01DS thoughts?

So I believe the 435 is longer because so many TSG'ers say it is BUT based on MY results my Modart MA01D at 46.75"w/TRPX...lol without any doubt I have had longer drives. I'm sure the shaft plays a major role but still.

I play the same course at least 3 times a week, not always 18 sometimes just 3-4 holes and most often the same 3-4 holes so I know them very very well. MA01D is still the only driver that has allowed me the chance to drive one of the greens on a short par 4 and I'm not a long hitter.

That said I'm waiting for 7D shafts on a black out and ZY-11 both distance options and based on what our clients say about the "distance option" 7D shafts it should be longer.

MA01DS with a square face is still considered slightly anti left by Suda-san, actually all Modart woods are.

In my bag I also can't shake the MA01F or MA01H and in that case I know those aren't the longest but for me with Crazy UT Black and Crazy FW80 it's the best feeling, cleanest contact, most reliable woods I have hit.

P.S Crazy has the new FW80 Regensis coming soon, It's better than the original, I hit them side by side on the LM at Crazy Tokyo last month very similar, smoother feel in the new and just a hair higher with the same head, loft, build.

Chris,

what are the options with regards to the modart ma01ds? in terms of loft and face angle? how open could Suda-san get the face? if I wanted a modart ma01ds 9.5* with 1.5* open face is that possible?

Like hand pick specs? Maybe .5 open If you require 1.5* open for sure go JBeam.

Chris, have you had the chance to explore the DS any more?

No I'm stuck testing all the new Honma gear right now, with 4 drivers, 4 irons, FW + UT it's taking a while.

For all of us who want your job "stuck testing Honma" sounds like a great way to spend the day.

I have to back Chris up on definitely the Modart D (for me) and the Modart hybrid and woods. Yes, I *might* have had longer drives with the 435 but I am much more consistent with the D (similar profile, maybe a tad deeper but a tad more forgiving and just a great feel). The hybrid & woods, someone will have to bury them with me (literally, if Modart stops selling those or Crazy stops producing the F80, I am screwed :) The new Crazy FW sounds awesome BTW! With the 435, D or S, I don't think you can go wrong, just depends on what you are looking for. I think all of them will be as long as each other with the right contact...

I think I am going to buy the 435 at 11*. I am hedging the bet with more loft. I had a Nakashima 440 once at 13* and sold it because it sounded like a cat in heat but it was really long and playable. Boring, high trajectory is my expectation. We'll see.
